The Style StalkerWhether they're studying collections from the runways or taking a look at what the fashion set is wearing, our editors always have their eyes on the trends that are just around the corner. With fall coming up and a new wave of fashion trends ready to drop, I've been curious to find out which ones our team is ready to embrace. So which ones have their stamp of approval?
Our editors' picks range from easy, wearable pieces that are all about elevated comfort to more dramatic pieces that make a major statement. That includes everything from slouchy trousers and ribbed knit dresses to extremely fringed bags and over-the-knee leather boots. Ready to see all of the fall finds we're excited to welcome into our personal closets? Ahead, discover the 20 cool fall fashion trends our editors are already behind and our top tips for how to style them.

I can't stop thinking about all of the cool takes on riding boots that are emerging for fall. This time around, equestrian boots are getting a modern makeover with details like thicker soles and a wider silhouette. I love the idea of styling this sleek pair with a minidress, as spotted in Khaite's resort 2020 lookbook, or wearing them with a pair of long Bermuda shorts.
While tailoring isn't going away, we'll be seeing more relaxed silhouettes pop up for fall. I'm all about the looser, comfier takes on trousers that are replacing more fitted styles. In particular, I have my eye on these pants from Tove.

"This trend has been hanging around for a minute, and I'm excited to finally indulge in the cozy look this fall. A little knit bra with big trousers will be my romantic evening go-to look. For work and during the day, I'll toss a plunging sweater on top that hints at the trendy bra underneath."
Shop the matching Alzou Cardigan ($316).
"Tall, flat boots are the name of the footwear game this season. Tall riding boots like Kristen's pick are a popular choice that I'm game to explore, and I'm also excited about the over-the-knee variety. I'm into the idea of styling them like leather leggings, so wearing a dress or a skirt that covers the top of the boots. For an even more fashion-forward look, try pairing them with a pair of tailored Bermuda shorts where the boots go straight up into the shorts. And since super-high boots always come back in style, I'm opting for a high-quality pair that I know I can love for years to come."

"On the F/W 20 runways, built-in chains were incorporated on everything from separates and dresses to shoes and bags, and the pieces that have come out so far are already so good, I can't wait to start buying (and wearing) them."
"Statement-making black bows were another detail I couldn't help but notice in countless runway shows and looks, and it was definitely one of my favorite trends to come out of the season. While the look can err on the formal side, when I came across this Ciao Lucia top I knew I had found the perfect, more casual way to hit on the trends that makes more sense for the times."

"I've never been one to tap into the edgier trends, but this season, the whole grunge aesthetic is really speaking to me. I love the mixture of plaids, metal hardware, and chunky shoes."
"One of the biggest color trends this season was chocolate brown. I love how rich the hue looks, especially when worn as a head-to-toe look like this silky matching set from Nanushka."
Shop the matching Magnolia Skirt ($460).

"One trend from the F/W 20 runways that I find I can't stop thinking about is extreme fringe. From it’s finer iterations on skirts and dresses at Dior, Prada, Salvatore Ferragamo, and Jill Sander to its more dramatic versions like Bottega Veneta's plush shearling fringe clutch and coat, it seems fringe is very much back, and I'm here for it. After all, it can't be the '20s without a little fringe, am I right?"
"Suits are by no means a new trend, however, as someone who is pant-adverse, I was giddy when skirt suits popped up in various F/W 2020 collections including Fendi and Off-White. It's a trend in which fashion girls (myself included) are placing bets being big beyond the runway because it's easy to adapt, but you can mix-and-match with pieces you already own, and it looks good on everyone."
Shop the matching Judela Midi Skirt ($295).

"It's been a million years since I last wore a sweater vest, but I'm oddly drawn to the trend this season, especially when it's styled in a unique way (i.e., worn alone as a top or with something far less preppy)."
"I guess I'm into the whole '70s thing again because I really want some patchwork in my life. I'm particularly drawn to accessories featuring the trend, like this perfect versatile Staud bag that I fully plan on purchasing."

"I'm loving the gray head-to-toe looks we saw all over the F/W 2020 runways where designers played with tones, textures, and layering techniques adding major interest to the neutral hue. I'll be getting on my groutfit game with this cool ribbed knit dress to start."
"Large, vintage-inspired collars continue their popularity into fall, and I'm 100% here for it! I'll be emanating some big-collar energy with this pretty Mango blouse."

"I'm still very much into faux-leather separates as a simple way to elevate any fall 'fit."
"Can't go wrong with a trend-forward shoe choice that's practical and chic. I can't wait to wear chunkier, flat boots with cropped jeans and a chunky knit."

"Fitted knit dresses are one of the few fall trends that's especially potent because not only is it practical and comfortable but it also had a significant presence on the runways as well from designers like Dion Lee and Simon Miller. You can bet I already have several versions in my cart."
"When I saw these incredible Prada loafers in one of my fellow editor's story, it was love at first sight. While these particular thick-soled loafers are the ultimate goal, there are plenty of affordable styles that hit on the same trend, and I can't wait to wear one of them with tights and skirts once the weather cools."

"If a grandma would wear it, I want to wear it. I love sweater sets and this super cute mint green one is sure to earn compliments. Now all I need is the weather to cool down so I can wear this all the time."
"I have plenty of garden-variety crewneck sweaters in neutral colors, but I'm excited to wear punchier pieces that put me in a good mood (because I definitely need it). I love this playful graphic and bright green color that will help me hold on to summer just a tad longer."
