I can't say enough how important I think it is to cultivate your own jewelry look to ensure every outfit is as stylish as possible from one day to the next. I personally have a stack of hoops up my ears that, at any given moment, can be found to include a fun pair of hoops or a larger statement piece. No matter your jewelry look, there's always room for a new piece to shake up your staple pair and this fall, jewelry designers really delivered in the earring trends department.

The earring trends we saw emerge on the F/W 18 runways was varied for sure. We saw all-out '80s-glam jewelry moments, thanks to the triumphant return of the decade's maximalism to fashion. Then there were the more eclectic, art-inspired shapes and the pretty pearl pieces on offer. On the whole, this season's earring trends prove one thing for certain: No matter what kind of jewelry wearer you may be, there's a fall 2018 earring trend with your name all over it.

To get a look at the styles that will adorn everyone's ears for the next several months, keep reading and then shop our picks of each trend.

If you'd told me a year ago that I'd be jumping at the chance to wear pearl earrings right now, I'd probably have laughed in your face. Never say never, I guess, since non-precious pearl earrings are having a bit of renaissance with the influx of organic, baroque pearl shapes we're seeing, especially those perched atop sculptural metal hoops. In short: They're being reimagined in designs that feel anything but stuffy for fall.

Gemstones saturated in candy colors of apple green and fuchsia are a nod to the '80s party-girl aesthetic. These bright baubles are done best when multiple colors are at play in a kind of "more is more" mentality.

For every more out-there trend this season, there's also those that appeal to our more practical sides. Designers went back to nature and took inspiration from earthy materials and imperfect shapes.

Art imitates life, life imitates art, and so forth. This time it's the former, and we can't help but feel that the point of reference for all the modernist earrings this fall was Alexander Calder's famous mobile sculptures.

The hoop earring is one that's become a mainstay in every fashion girl's jewelry box, so it only seems right that designers should find a fresh way to update the silhouette, adding multiple links for an overall tougher look.
