5 Basics I'm Gutting From My Wardrobe and the 5 I'm Buying Instead
I like to go through my wardrobe each season to clean out and refresh my offering. With spring in full swing and summer approaching, I decided to gut the basics section of my wardrobe. I live in basics and consider them to be the stars of my closet, but there are quite a few styles I'm removing from my wardrobe because they're somewhat dated and dingy or just don't fit properly anymore.
While I'm certainly not going to replace everything I plan on getting rid of, I am interested in buying a few new forward basics to update my selection for the season. If you're looking for a bit of shopping inspiration, I'm sharing the list of what I'm eyeing below. And actually, everything I'm personally interested in or want to recommend to others happens to be available from our namesake label, Who What Wear Collection. So I thought I'd round up visual inspiration and shopping picks from the line specifically. Keep scrolling for more.
Tossing: Fitted Blazers
Adding: Relaxed Blazers
I still have a few shorter, fitted blazers in my offering that I want to get rid of in favor of more oversize silhouettes. The relaxed cuts feel more modern and can easily be dressed up or down.
This blazer is incredibly sleek with the double-breasted design and oversize cut.
Tossing: Older Sweatsuits
Adding: Elevated Sets
I love a matching set. While I certainly won't ditch some of my favorite hoodie-and-jogger sets, I do want to get rid of the super-worn styles that don't feel fresh. I also want to add in a more elevated knit set for something different.
Tossing: Lightweight Long Cardigans
Adding: Versatile Statement Cardigans
A statement cardigan—like this one with the florals—is certainly a bolder choice, but it's just as versatile as a simpler style.
A ruffled cardigan like this one is chic with jeans, trousers, or even the coordinating skirt.
Tossing: Cropped, Tight Trousers
Adding: Loose Trousers
Similar to the blazer situation above, I'm very much into relaxed trousers rather than the fitted styles this season. So polished.
Now, shop more elevated basics:
You can pair any shoe style with this printed dress.
And don't forget about the matching pants.
