The One Denim Style You Should Stop Wearing in 2017
Welcome to our Ask an Editor series, where each month, I’ll answer a question submitted by our lovely readers. How does it work, you ask? At the end of this story, submit your style- or fashion-related questions, and I’ll pick the top submission to solve next month. (And maybe even give you a shout-out!)
This month I received several denim-related shopping and style questions. From requests for fresh outfit ideas to the It style to buy and ditch this year, everyone wants to be up to speed on the latest denim trends. I picked the most common question to solve for this edition of Ask an Editor, which revolves around the style to ditch this year and which one to stock up on.
Scroll down for this month's answer, and be sure to leave your style question for me at the end.
What's the one denim style that's out this season?
Thanks for your submission, Sophie! When it comes to ditching a denim style this season, I suggest tucking cropped culottes away for now. We're seeing fewer oversize, super-cropped culottes right now and more denim styles that are fitted and figure-flattering. Trends come and go, so perhaps stash your culottes toward the back of your wardrobe and add a fresh, on-trend option to your denim rotation, like something with a unique hem treatment–which is by far the biggest trend in the denim world for 2017.

Go for a bold distressed look.
How cool is the extended hemline on the inseam?
Show off the hemline with a pair of statement heels.
The distressing in the back adds a unique detail.
The zipper detail adds an extra-stylish look.
It's all about the exaggerated destroyed hem here.
Wear these with a sleek leather jacket and edgy ankle boots.
These are just as cool as the denim shorts Re/Done recently debuted.
We love the extra crop on this pair from Paige Denim.
