We Have the Worst Dark Circles—These Are the Eye Creams That Help Them Vanish
One of the biggest skincare struggles all of our Who What Wear editors face is simple: dark circles. It also happens to be one of the most frequent questions I'm asked by friends and family when they see my overflowing collection of skincare products that I swear by. Everyone I know has been forced to deal with dark under eyes at one time or another (college-aged Maya was especially plagued by them thanks to lengthy test prep and essay writing sessions). Luckily, there are a multitude of things you can do to help combat your dark circles, including investing in an effective eye cream and adding it to your skincare routine.
What To Look For
Finding the right eye cream for you doesn't have to be challenging. In fact, it can be as simple as making a trip to your neighborhood beauty supply store and checking out the ingredients on the back of the product packaging. Kate Kerr, the skin expert and director of the Kate Kerr London Clinic, shares that there are two main ingredients to look out for when selecting the best eye cream for dark circles: "L-ascorbic acid, a potent form of vitamin C, and a retinol-based eye cream, which will help to strengthen the area." To discover which eye creams we're using 24/7 that possess these ingredients and more to combat tired-looking eyes, pigmentation, and darkness, you'll want to keep scrolling.

Overall Best: Versed Smooth Landing Advanced Retinoid Eye Balm
"Retinoids are known to resurface the skin, bringing brighter, fresher skin cells to the surface. They're also known to cause irritation. This one accomplishes the former without any of the nasty effects of the latter. Over time, I've found that it minimizes the look of dark circles and plumps the fine lines around my eye area." — Kaitlyn McLintock, associate beauty editor
Customer review: "I've used many different brands and types of eye cream, but nothing compares to this one! My skin is extremely dry, and sometimes sensitive to certain products, but Versed Smooth Landing is non-irritating, goes on smoothly, and stays on throughout the night. In the past, no matter what serum or cream I used around my eyes, before using concealer, I'd have flaky skin. Smooth Landing has stopped the flaky skin."
Pro: Softens the appearance of fine lines
Con: None

Pro: Uses gentle, renewable ingredients
Con: Minimal plumping effects
2. Herbivore Super Nova 5% THD Vitamin C + Caffeine Brightening Eye Cream

It uses 5% vitamin C, as well as caffeine and turmeric root, to visibly brighten the skin and even out discrepancies in tone." — McLintock
Customer review: "Herbivore Super Nova eye cream has been part of my morning routine for the past few weeks. Bless my genetics, I have naturally dark under-eye skin and have tried a multitude of different products over the years. I have noticed the area under my eyes is less puffy and brighter after a few weeks. I love the texture of the eye cream, which is smooth and thick."
Pro: Formulated with eye-brightening caffeine
Con: Not ideal for sensitive skin; strongly fragranced
