These Are the Only Jeans Our Editors Wear
The editors at the Who What Wear offices are big denim fans—myself included. Yes, I regularly wear denim everywhere from the office to the weekend, as do my fellow editors. With my proclivity for denim and always wanting to discover the latest new styles, it got me wondering about the best jeans according to our editors. To find out their most recommended denim styles, I asked them which ones they’re currently stocking in their closets.
From vintage-like jeans that are actually brand-new and loose fit jeans that are gaining traction among the fashion set to super high-rise cuts and the jeans three editors (including myself) count as their favorites, find out the denim styles we’re wearing IRL ahead. Go on to see which denim silhouettes our editors are wearing and then shop each of them for yourself.
"Re/Done has always been a standby, especially if you want that vintage look without rummaging through endless stacks of old jeans."
"No-stretch is a way of life, and these are the cream of the rigid crop. The fit is divine. You can even tell from looking at the model."
"I live in these super high-waisted jeans from Agolde. They're the perfect, minimal flare for wearing with ankle boots, and the shade of black is dark enough to wear at night without feeling too saturated."
"Like our editor in chief, Kat Collings, and market editor, Nicole Eshaghpour, I similarly swear by Agolde's pinch-waist jeans. I own them in this perfect vintage blue color, but now I'm convinced I need to try them out in black as well."
"I recently came across this pair of Levi's on a recent vintage shopping trip and haven't taken them off since. They're a straight fit jean with an elongated hem that perfectly skims the top of my ankle boots. Though my exact pair is a vintage find, this pair from Reformation is the closest fit I've found to them in any new jeans."
"Aptly dubbed the Ribcage style, the jeans offer the highest rise on any Levi's to date—and at 12 1/8 inches, the ribcage-grazing waistline puts other high-waisted jeans on the market to shame. The name makes them sound scary, I know, but once I buttoned my pair all the way up to my belly button, it became immediately clear that these were the most slimming (and comfortable!) jeans I had ever worn."
"I call these my Monday jeans because I wear them when I'm feeling like I ate too much over the weekend and need a little extra room to breathe. Plus looser denim is a big trend right now, so it's a win-win—comfort and style."
"I've gotten so much wear with these cropped black flares. They are super comfortable and can easily be dressed up or down."
"I've been eyeing these leather skinnies from J Brand for almost a year and recently got them and all I can say is I wish I'd invested earlier. They are so good and such a wardrobe staple."
"I actually have these in red, and they have the most flattering fit. I always recommend them to my friends."
"I consistently rely on Mother jeans because they have some of the comfiest fabrics out there. You know they're good when you're even willing to wear them on long flights instead of leggings."
"Choosing just one pair is very hard for me, but I narrowed it down to two favorites."
"These are the pairs I always pack for trips lately, which is a sign that I really love something."
"Madewell's demi-boot jeans are super-flattering and are easy to wear with flats and heels alike. They are incredibly comfortable with just the right amount of stretch and cropped their high-rise silhouette has become a staple in my wardrobe."
