Beauty Editors Rave About This Eye Cream, But Does It Really Live Up to the Hype?
I have a love/hate relationship with eye creams. As someone who likes a really simple skincare routine, I often feel as if they are somewhat unnecessary. I mean, let's face it, no product can fully get rid of fine lines or dark circles. That being said, eye creams can definitely help tackle certain skin concerns if used consistently over time, and as someone who suffers from dry skin under my eyes, they definitely help my makeup go on a lot easier too. So, when I manage to find a good one, I make sure to use it every night.
One eye cream that I have been seeing time and time again is the Drunk Elephant C-Tango Multivitamin Eye Cream. I'm sure you've seen this popular skincare brand all over TikTok, loved for its nourishing ingredients and fun packaging. After doing a little research, I quickly came to realise that this eye cream is regarded as one of the brand's best products amongst editors, so I was intrigued to give it a go.
This rich, hydrating cream features vitamin C, peptides and cucumber extract to firm and add radiance. Although it sounded great, as someone with quite sensitive skin around my eyes, I made sure to proceed with caution. If you're keen to know how I got on, keep on scrolling for my full review...
Drunk Elephant C-Tango Multivitamin Eye Cream Review
The Formula
As mentioned above, this eye cream is a cocktail of skin-loving ingredients. It features five different forms of vitamin C which work together to brighten and firm skin. Not only that but the 8-peptide blend works to strengthen skin and improve fine lines. Alongside protective vitamin E and antioxidant-rich cucumber, this eye cream really is a force to be reckoned with. It's worth noting that the formula is also 100% free of essential oils, fragrance and silicones. My skin can often react to fragrances in skincare, so this was music to my ears.
The Texture
Now, onto the texture. This is easily one of the most hydrating, nourishing eye creams I have tried. It has a lovely creamy, thick texture that glides onto the skin. That being said, it's not so thick that you don't feel like you can use it under makeup. In fact, I love using this in the morning as it feels super refreshing. (The brand actually advise keeping the product in the fridge for a really cooling effect).
One thing I will say is that I wouldn't recommend using too much in the mornings, as I did experience some product pilling on the skin. Instead, apply a thicker layer at night to lock in that moisture while you sleep.
The Verdict
Just After Applying The Drunk Elephant C-Tango Multivitamin Eye Cream
Using The Drunk Elephant C-Tango Multivitamin Eye Cream Under Makeup
All in all, I have become a big fan of this eye cream and can see why it gets so much hype. My under eyes have honestly felt so hydrated since using the cream, and it hasn't irritated my sensitive skin at all. As mentioned above, the creamy texture sits so well under makeup but I did experience some pilling so reduced the amount I was applying which seemed to help.
Although I haven't been using it long enough to see any big changes, I definitely feel like it does have a somewhat instant brightening effect as you can see from the pictures above. Of course, it goes without saying that no eye cream can fully get rid of dark circles, but every little helps.
Although I would recommend this eye cream to anyone who is looking for instant hydration and a radiant finish, it doesn't come cheap. At £57 a bottle, it's not something you would buy without hesitation. Don't get me wrong, the size of the bottle means that this eye cream should last you the long run as you don't need to use a lot, but it's still quite an investment. If you want to treat yourself, then I'd definitely give this a go, however if you're wanting to save a little bit of money, then check out some of my favourite alternatives below.
Pros: Creamy formula, feels refreshing on the skin, hydrating and adds radiance
Cons: Quite expensive and might take a while to see long term results
