I've Been Flooded With "You Smell So Expensive" Compliments Recently Thanks to These 3 Products
One beauty editor shares her top picks from the bestselling brand, Saltair.
Now and again, a new brand comes along and I find myself asking what I ever did without it. Currently, that brand is Saltair. While this body care line is nothing new (it actually launched in the US back in 2022), thanks to Space NK, it has recently become available to shop in the UK, and it's safe to say that people have gone wild for the products.
Designed to allow everyone to feel comfortable in their own skin, Saltair offers a range of body care delights, including body creams, body oils, deodorants and more, in a selection of delicious scents that can be layered for the ultimate self-care routine.
About a month ago, to celebrate the UK launch, the Santal Bloom scent landed on my desk, and after using the body lotion, body oil and deodorant in tandem before layering on my favourite Santal perfume (Beauty Pie's Santal Smash, FYI), I was flooded with compliments on how expensive I smelled. To the point that I immediately went and tried every other bestselling scent from the brand. Below, I've rounded up my favourite products that I believe everyone should have on their radar.
The Best Saltair Products, Tried & Tested
- Best Body Butter: Saltair Santal Bloom Body Butter, £23
- Best Body Oil: Saltair Santal Bloom Body Oil Shimmer, £28
- Best Body Wash: Saltair Salt Water Vanilla Body Wash, £17
- Best Body Spray: Saltair Salt Water Vanilla Body Mist, £15
- Best Deodorant: Saltair Santal Bloom Serum Deodorant, £14
1. Saltair Santal Bloom Body Butter
Key notes: Rose, jasmine, sandalwood
Before I discuss how amazing this smells, I have to talk about how good it feels on the skin. It has the most silky, whipped, buttery texture, yet it is also incredibly lightweight, sinking into the skin almost instantly after application. I use this every day after I shower, and I don't think my limbs have ever felt so soft.
Now, onto the scent. Whilst it is more subtle than some of the other options from the brand, it's the warm, creamy, musky nature that makes this body cream smell so expensive. Trust me, use this in tandem with the body wash and body oil (or even the deodorant) and prepare for an influx of compliments.
Pros
- Super hydrating
- Lightweight texture
- Smells expensive
Cons
- Tub is quite large for travelling
2. Saltair Santal Bloom Body Oil Shimmer
Key notes: Rose, jasmine, sandalwood
Whilst I'm a huge fan of the original Santal Bloom body oil, I adore this shimmering iteration for the festive season. I'll be honest, I don't usually like body oils, but this formulation (a blend of fermented saururus, kukui, cacay, moringa and squalane oils) is similar to the body lotion in the fact that it feels super hydrating without leaving a greasy residue on the skin. Plus, the pump makes it so easy to apply.
Enriched with golden pearl pigments, this particular oil will leave your skin looking luminous. Apply a few pumps to your legs or décolleté before heading to your Christmas party for a noticeable glow.
Pros
- Hydrating, non-greasy formula
- Easy-to-use pump format
Cons
- Some may prefer the non-shimmery version
3. Saltair Salt Water Vanilla Body Wash
Key notes: Sandalwood, vanilla, sea salt
When it comes to body washes, I've recently become obsessed with Salt Water Vanilla. I'm a big fan of gourmand fragrances, but this is a sophisticated take on your usual vanilla scent thanks to notes of tangy sea salt. It smells so delicious that I want to douse myself with this body wash every time I use it.
In the past, heavily fragranced body washes have really dried out my skin, but this is the most moisturising formula I have tried, thanks to the algae complex. Mineral-enriched seawater and vanilla fruit extract also work to promote luminosity. I warn you, this bottle is big, so make sure you have space in the shower. For £17, it's such good value.
Pros
- Smells delicious
- Hydrating formula
- Good value for money
Cons
- Large size is hard to travel with
4. Saltair Salt Water Vanilla Body Mist
Key notes: Sandalwood, vanilla, sea salt
Want to smell like your favourite dessert? Once you've used your Salt Water Vanilla Body Wash, pop on your favourite body lotion and then add a generous spritz of the Salt Water Vanilla Body Mist. It's sweet, warm, a little bit salty and totally, totally delicious.
If you want to switch things up, this scent also layers beautifully with the Santal Bloom fragrance from the brand.
Pros
- Works well with other scents from the brand
Cons
- Not super long-lasting
5. Saltair Santal Bloom Serum Deodorant
Key notes: Rose, jasmine, sandalwood
Speaking of, I can't stop using the brand's Santal Bloom Serum Deodorant. Not only is it one of the chicest deodorants I've ever seen, but it smells incredible and contains a cocktail of skin-loving ingredients, including mandelic acid, lactic acid and PHA.
While I probably wouldn't rely on this for a super sweaty workout, it's a great option for day-to-day that works to exfoliate and smooth the skin, helping to minimise the appearance of ingrown hairs or discolouration.
Pros
- Chic packaging
- Roll-on format
- Smells amazing
- Packed with skin-loving ingredients
Cons
- Not the strongest formula for sweat-protection
6. Saltair Pink Beach Body Butter
Key notes: Coconut, vanilla, almond blossom
If you like a sweet, slightly tropical scent, then you will love the brand's Pink Beach collection. I can see myself reaching for this in the warmer months and layering it with my favourite summer perfumes.
Alongside a ceramide complex, this formula contains fatty acids, phytosterols, phospholipids, sea buckthorn, coconut oils and shea butter to care for your skin barrier.
Pros
- Sweet, tropical scent
- Pretty packaging
- Super hydrating
Cons
- Might be too sweet for some
7. Saltair Golden Hour Body Wash
Key notes: Pineapple, sunflower, coconut
Okay, in my opinion, this is the ultimate escapist scent from the brand, and I can't wait to take all of the products from the Golden Hour collection with me on my next holiday. Notes of pineapple and coconut transport me straight from my shower to an expensive tropical getaway. Seriously, get yourself down to your local Space NK to smell this ASAP. You will not be disappointed.
Pros
- Gorgeous summer scent
- Chic packaging
Cons
- Better for the warmer months
8. Saltair Salt Water Vanilla Body Butter
Key notes: Sandalwood, vanilla, sea salt
You didn't think I'd do this roundup without including the Salt Water Vanilla Body Butter, did you? It's currently sold out on the Space NK website, and to be honest, I can totally see why. At £23, the luxurious formula and expensive-smelling scent are an absolute steal. I recommend turning your back-in-stock notifications on for this one.
Pros
- Silky soft formula
- Vanilla scent
Cons
- Keeps selling out
