We Want Smoother, More Rejuvenated Hands—These LED Hand Masks Have Changed the Game
LED hand masks promise to turn back time on our hands, so we put the best ones to the test.
If there's a skin tool that is on everyone's wishlist right now, it's LED masks. LED therapy has been celebrated for its skin-rejuvenating effects, and now, more and more brands are releasing skin tools that can address other areas of the face and body, such as LED eye masks, LED hats and now, LED hand masks.
Whilst our faces and necks are prone to showing signs of ageing first, our hands are often overlooked. Yet, they're exposed just as much as our face, and coupled with the thinner skin on our hands, they can be prone to showing fine lines, wrinkles and pigmentation sooner compared to the rest of our body. Most of us are accustomed to applying SPF on our faces, but more often than not, our hands are forgotten, so signs of ageing can crop up sooner than we might expect.
However, LED hand masks are here to help. By using different wavelengths (mostly red and near-infrared wavelengths), they help to smooth the skin by increasing collagen production, bringing all the benefits you'd see from an LED face mask to your hands, too. So, what ones are truly worth the investment? I gathered our most discerning editors on the team to road-test the best LED hand masks on the market to see if they really work.

1. Beauty Pie C-Wave Rejuvenating LED Treatment For Hands
Pros
- More affordable than others
- Red (630nm ± 10nm) and near infrared (830nm ± 10nm) light
- Boosts firmness and skin elasticity
- 10 minutes treatment time
- Wireless
Cons
- Only one mitt included so takes longer to treat both hands
Editor review: "I've become accustomed to using an LED on my face, but I hadn't considered using it for my hands up until now. But, given that our hands are just as opposed to the damaging effects of the sun as our face and neck are, I considered it time to try adding LED into my hand care routine. I also experience eczema on my hands, so I was intrigued to see if this would help," says Who What Wear UK beauty editor, Eleanor Vousden.
"I'm already a fan of Beauty Pie's LED Mask, so I knew I could expect good results from this device too. Included is just the one mitt as opposed to two. However, whilst it does double your treatment time, it does mean that you can still get on quite easily with other tasks, holding a book or your phone without it getting in the way. And with the treatments only taking 10 minutes, I found it easy enough to slot into my bedtime routine whilst using my LED mask (my kind of habit-stacking). The mitt is comfy to wear and attaches securely around the wrist. There's also just one treatment setting, which makes it fuss-free and easy to use.
"I used it every day on both hands over the course of a month, and I can definitely see an improvement in my hands. I wasn't diligent with using SPF in my early twenties, and so I have some premature wrinkles and pigmentation on the backs of my hands. I've noticed a subtle softening in the lines on the back of my wrists, and my hands possess a radiance they lacked before. But most impressively, during testing, I've seen a big reduction in eczema flares and redness on my hands, which is a big bonus!
"I've always appreciated the high-quality devices that Beauty Pie brings to market at an affordable price, and this feels quite a reasonable investment if you're looking for an LED hand mask. Overall, I would highly recommend it, and I'll definitely be continuing with it in my daily routine."
2. Omnilux LED Contour Glove
Pros
- Clinical studies show an improvement in pain from joint conditions
- Helps to rejuvenate skin and counteract dryness
- Easy to use
Cons
- On the expensive side
- Only has one mitt, so treating both hands takes longer
Editor review: "I’ve always believed that age first reveals itself through your hands, and of late, mine have become a personal fixation. From swollen, reddened fingers to the appearance of deep, prominent veins topped off with an overall dryness from palm to tip, they are gradually losing their youthful appeal. So when asked to try the Omnilux Contour Glove, I jumped at the chance," says Who What Wear UK junior fashion editor, Imani-Nia Francis-Tsolakis.
"The application couldn’t be simpler. Simply charge, slip on (one hand at a time) and turn on via the button on top to begin. With the addition of a strap for comfort and a cushioned pad to keep your fingers secure, this mini spa in device form ends each session after 10 minutes, automatically turning off once the treatment is complete.
"Now, I must say I was thoroughly impressed. Firstly, it's portable. From using whilst brushing my teeth to making a cuppa or watching a film, it was easy to fit into my day-to-day routine. Secondly, the application is “gadget dummy” approved. As someone who tends to get easily confused by all the buttons and functions the latest tech provides, the simplicity of this device made me more inclined to use it continuously.
"Having tested the Omnilux Contour Glove for four weeks, I’m already starting to see improvement. From my hands looking visibly more hydrated, to a reduction in the all-over red inflammation I’ve been noticing for months, it's clear the Omnilux Contour Glove does what it says on the tin, and what could be better than that."
3. Currentbody LED Light Therapy Panel
Pros
- Includes blue (415nm), red (633nm), near-infrared (830nm) and deep near-infrared (1072nm)
- 10-20 minute treatment times
Cons
- An expensive investment, but can be used anywhere on the face or body
Editor review: "My hands can get quite dry, and I struggle with psoriasis on my fingers, with flare-ups from time to time. So I was really interested to see how the CurrentBody Skin LED Panel would improve both how they look and feel," says Who What Wear UK analyst Sophie Cookson.
"It’s incredibly easy to use. The panel itself is flexible, so you can slip your hands in comfortably without any fuss. It features four different wavelengths—blue (415nm), red (633nm), near-infrared (830nm) and deep near-infrared (1072nm)—meaning you can target different concerns like anti-ageing, skin clearing and recovery. The blue and red light treatments last 10 minutes and are used in direct contact with the skin, while the higher wavelengths run for 20 minutes and are used at a distance of around 15cm for more targeted treatment.
"I tended to use it in the evenings, or during long meetings at home when I didn’t need to use my hands. The time goes quickly, and if I did need to take them out, it was really easy to do so. It might be a bit soon to see a visible difference in overall appearance, but I did notice that some of the dry patches improved after just a few sessions.
"One of the biggest appeals of the CurrentBody full LED panel is how versatile it is. As well as using it on my hands, I’ve also been using it on my face for anti-ageing and skin clearing, as well as on my chest and elbows, where I also get psoriasis patches—and I’ve seen some reduction there too. It is more expensive than some other devices, but considering you can use it across your whole body, I think it makes more sense than investing in separate tools for different areas."
4. Foreo FAQ 221 Anti-Aging LED Hand Mask
Editor review: "My hands seem to age faster than any other part of my body, so when I read that the Foreo hand mask was clinically proven to reduce wrinkles by 32% in as little as two weeks, honestly, my interest piqued," says Who What Wear UK social media editor, Megan Storey.
"I was slightly sceptical about finding the time to actually use it, but the wireless design means that I can wear it whilst at my laptop, so for three weeks I’ve been using it every day. It attaches to your wrist with a bracelet, and then the silicone pad just sits on your hand.
"There are different pre-programmed treatments you can use by downloading an app, all designed to help with different things. My main issues were uneven skin tone and wrinkles, so I have focused on those. It’s been a short amount of time, but I’m pretty sure the skin of my hands is looking slightly firmer and just generally healthier. Like when I consistently use my face LED mask, and the change is subtle but definitely there.
"Obviously, this won't be for everyone, and it's a slightly more high-maintenance step in looking after your skin, but I have enjoyed using it, especially when I put down my phone and let it do its thing. I'm looking forward to seeing some results after longer use and think it'll become a consistent part of my skincare routine."
5. Margaret Dabbs London
Pros
- Includes two mitts, so you can treat both hands at the same time
Cons
- On the expensive side
Editor review: "I am perhaps the most low-maintenance beauty director who has ever lived, so the idea of using a dedicated gadget on my hands first struck me as something totally unnecessary and, frankly, a complete waste of time. In fact, when Eleanor asked me if I'd be up for testing an LED hand mask for this story, I was reluctant. But then, I stumbled across the Margaret Dabbs London Astraea Natura LED Hand Mitts, and I was convinced," says Who What Wear UK beauty director Shannon Lawlor.
"It's not that I hadn't noticed my 31-year-old hands were looking 10 years older than they are, it's more that I couldn't see myself committing to using an LED mask on my hands every day. But the Margaret Dabbs ones looked like something I could get on board with. For starters, there are two of them, so both hands can get treated at the same time. Then there's the fact that the treatment time is only 10 minutes—another win. Finally, I like just how low-fuss they are: press the on button, and they're good to go with no app or wires required."
"The mitts have two settings to toggle between: Red & Near Infrared (630 nm / 830 nm) to focus on collagen production and subsequently diminish the appearance of creping, lines and wrinkles, and Green Light (520 nm) to reduce pigmentation and give hands a more rejuvenated, glowing, healthier appearance. Personally, I wanted to tackle both my crepey skin and pigmentation, as a result of years of sun damage, so I alternated my treatments every day for four weeks."
"Wearing them is easy. They're comfortable and wonderfully flexible. Every night when I get into bed, I pop my LED face mask on at the same time as my mitts, and take 10 minutes to destress before going to sleep—it's become a sort of ritual. After 10 minutes, the mitts turn off, and I finish up by slathering on some hand cream. (If anything, my new LED mitt ritual has made me better at moisturising my hands.)
"And the results have been excellent so far, too. In just four weeks, I've noticed my hands look visibly brighter. Is the crepey skin still visible? Frankly, yes, but I think it's noticeably reduced, and after only four weeks of use, I'm not expecting anything to perform miracles. All things considered, I'm fully sold on my new hand routine."
