If you ask me, 2026 has been an exceptional year for new fragrances. I sample launches from luxury fragrance houses months before launch and test the best luxury fragrances all year round—trust me, I've done the boots-on-the-ground (or perfume-on-the-blotter) journalism.
Picking the very best luxury perfumes of 2026, however, wasn't an easy task. But after rummaging through my perfume shelves, spritzing this year's launches, studying perfume trends and charting the number of compliments each one got me, I've managed to compile my list of the best luxury fragrances that are truly worth the investment. 1. Byredo Future Memories
Key notes: Blackcurrant, aldehydes, galbanum, labdanum, iris butter, orange blossom, vanilla, musks, vanilla liquor accord, ambrofix
Byredo’s latest launch had me captivated from the very first spritz. Created by perfumer Quenton Bisch, one of my all-time favourites, it takes inspiration from the suspension of time between the present and the future, resulting in a scent that feels nostalgic and comforting yet simultaneously modern. It opens with a beautiful green bitterness before slowly unfurling into a smooth, creamy yet charred vanilla with a subtle smokiness that makes it feel all the more intriguing. It lingers on my skin for hours whenever I wear it, and the compliments have been endless. If you're looking for a new fragrance to see you through the autumn and winter months, this is one I'd wholeheartedly recommend.
2. Bottega Veneta Beauty Bare Morning
Key notes: Pink pepper, apricot seed, Borotalco accord, freesia, sandalwood, musks, cashmeran
Bottega Veneta launched its new line of fragrances, Alta, this year, and each and every one is as stunning as the next. They're all inspired by scents and ingredients across Italy, but this one is my pick, which has garnered me compliments whenever I've worn it. This powdery skin scent draws inspiration from Borotalco, an Italian personal care brand known for its talcum powder and vintage, powdery scent. It feels like you've stepped out of the shower and dusted your skin with the Italian powder prior to slipping on and slipping on a silk slip. You'll love this too if you love a clean-smelling perfume or a creamy or powdery fragrance.
3. Chanel Coco Mademoiselle Crush Absolu
Key notes: Vetiver, vanilla, grapefruit, lychee, rose, jasmine, patchouli
Possibly the most exciting luxury perfume launch of the year, Chanel Coco Mademoiselle Crush Absolu is already as iconic as the original Coco Mademoiselle. It has all the amber-floral notes of the original that we know and adore, but with a juicy, mouthwatering burst of lychee on the opening before settling into a deeper, resinous amber that feels like it was made for mischievous soirees. Mark my words, it'll garner compliments galore.
4. Parfums de Marly Althaïr Exclusif
Key notes: Cinnamon, orange blossom, cardamom, praline, bourbon vanilla, guaicwood, ambrox
The original Parfums de Marly Althaïr is one of my all-time favourite vanilla fragrances, and one I eagerly bring back into my rotation each and every autumn. So, when I heard an exclusif version was on the way, you can imagine my excitement. It takes everything I adore about the original's deep, decadent vanilla and elevates it with a warming hit of flame-lit amaretto that smoulders beautifully on the skin, whilst the addition of orange blossom lends a creamy, almost mouth-watering smoothness. It's the kind of fragrance that feels like wrapping yourself in your favourite cashmere jumper, made for crisp autumn walks and cosy evenings spent by the fireside.
5. Dries Van Noten Velvet Violet
Key notes: Pink pepper, violet leaf, clary sage essence, toasted sesame absolute, roasted barley, grilled tonka beans, benzoin resinoide, vetiver essence
Velvet Violet deserves a spot on your radar if you're searching for an autumn fragrance that effortlessly takes you from day to night. One spritz unveils a cloud of powdery Parma Violets, beautifully balanced by roasted sesame seed, adding a moreish nuttiness that melts seamlessly into a creamy tonka bean base. It's the kind of scent that feels impossibly chic, making it the perfect finishing touch for any autumn occasion. And can we just appreciate the bottle for a moment? An absolute work of art for you dressing table.
6. Maison Crivelli Musc Nurasana
Key notes: Bergamot, olibanum incense, rose damascena, musks, tonka bean
Maison Crivelli's fragrances are amongst some of my all-time favourite perfumes, and after receiving a lab sample earlier this year, I could not wait for this to launch. This new addition takes the powerful sillage and signature long-lasting power of Crivelli's creations and pairs it with creamy, floaty musks. It's soapy and musky, and it lingers all day long and won't disappear into thin air as a lot of light and fresh scents do. It lasts so well throughout the day, and I can even smell it on a tester blotter two weeks after spritzing it.
7. Jo Malone London Sea Salt & Bergamot
Key notes: Bergamot, sea salt, driftwood
Wood Sage & Sea Salt is one of my favourite Jo Malone London perfumes, but the newest iteration of the scent, Bergamot & Sea Salt, might just top it. Inspired by the crunchy sea salt and mineral air of a windswept English coastline, the sage is traded out for a sparkling citrus in the form of bergamot, which gives it all the feeling of a refreshing and invigorating breeze as you behold the glittering horizon. I've been loving wearing this uplifting scent as the darker days of autumn roll in.
