I Tried Probiotic Skincare for 5 Weeks, and I'm Glowing Like Never Before
Welcome to I Tried It Month, where we’ll be publishing a new fashion, beauty, or wellness article every day in January that features a first-person account of shaking up an old habit, pushing beyond a comfort zone, or simply trying something new. Follow along for 31 days of storytelling, including everything from going without a cell phone for 40 days to trying the polarizing low-rise-pants trend.
Name: Bailey Burke
What did you try?
A skincare regimen from Aurelia London probiotic-rich skincare for five weeks.
Why did you try it?
I have been reading about probiotic skincare from some of the biggest names in the skincare industry, such as Dr. Barbara Sturm. I wanted to see if I would be able to change my skin from within, as I have always been a huge proponent of Eastern medicine and healing through healthy practices, so I decided why not? Let's try it!
How did you prepare?
I had a consultation with Antonia Knox, brand expert and spokesperson for Aurelia London skincare. During our chat, I told her about my combination skin type and struggles with acne. She then selected specific Aurelia products to construct a full regimen to combat my main skin pain points.
What happened during the whole process?
Throughout the process, I was able to watch my skin become so much more hydrated and radiant. I also noticed fewer breakouts, and when they did happen, they were far less severe than before. After I applied the products in the morning and at night, my skin felt supple and was visibly glowing.
Any challenges?
This was my first time having a set skincare regimen, and I was worried that I would not be able to keep up with the many steps of the routine each morning and night. I was proven wrong, as the steps were quick and easy.
Any surprises?
I was shocked to see my skin look better after only a few weeks of abiding by the routine. I thought that it would take much longer to see any results!
How did you feel afterward? What kinds of changes did you notice?
I felt as though I was visibly glowing and that my dry, flaky skin was no longer a worry.
What did you like about it?
I loved the beautiful floral scents of the products and how instantaneously they worked to brighten up and hydrate my skin.
What did you dislike?
Nothing!
Would you try it again?
Absolutely! I will definitely still use these products.
Any advice for anyone who's thinking about trying it?
Go for it! You can absolutely heal your skin from within through the use of the right products, probiotics, quality care, and expertise.

She now calls Santa Monica home but grew up in Minnetonka, Minnesota, and studied writing, rhetoric, and communication at University of Wisconsin, La Crosse. She studied abroad in Galway, Ireland, and spent a summer in L.A. interning with the Byrdie and Who What Wear family. After graduating from UW, she spent one year in San Francisco, where she worked as a writer for Pottery Barn Kids and PBteen before moving down to L.A. to begin her career as a beauty editor. She considers her day-to-day beauty aesthetic very low-maintenance and relies on staples like clear brow serum (from Kimiko!), Lawless's Lip Plumping Mask in Cherry Vanilla, and an eyelash curler. For special occasions or days when she's taking more meetings or has an event, she'll wear anything and everything from Charlotte Tilbury (the foundations are game-changing), some shimmer on her lids (Stila and Róen do it best), and a few coats of the best mascara-type product on earth, Surratt's Noir Lash Tint.
