I Made an Under-$100 Shopping List for My Friends—These 7 Trends Made the List
I recently spent an afternoon chatting with some of my friends over Zoom. Given that I’m the go-to fashion person in my inner circle, conversations often lead to shopping advice. One of my friends asked me to dish out my favorite trends that are chic but also simple and versatile. What I did is made a quick little list and messaged it over to everyone after the convo so they could keep it in the back of their mind when they’re ready to shop. But I also took it one step further: I ensured that the trends in question could all be bought on the cheap.
Interested in which spring trends made my under-$100 list? Keep scrolling for a bit of visual inspiration along with shopping recommendations. Keep in mind that while some of the specific pieces you'll see in the street style imagery below might ring in on the higher end, each look can be achieved at an affordable price, which I'll show you.
1. Split-Hem Leggings
Sure, joggers are having a moment, but leggings are still comfortable go-to pants—particularly those split-hem leggings for a fashion-forward spin.
2. Trench Coat
When it comes to outerwear, trench coats—especially those reworked silhouettes—reign supreme as the top style to add easy sophistication to a look.
3. Cardigan
Whether oversize, cropped, or shrunken, the cardigan in all forms is a must-have worn as a top or layered over a T-shirt.
Shop the matching Openwork Knit Top ($46).
4. Slouchy Blazer
You can instantly add polish to even the simplest of looks by tossing on a slouchy blazer in either a checked or solid hue.
5. White Button-Down
Sure, you could consider the standard white blouse a basic, but the classic shirt is also trending right now among the fashion crowd.
6. Flared Jeans
There’s no denying that those ’70s-inspired styles are the denim cut du jour for a cool and retro vibe.
7. Vest
Really want to go for it? Consider incorporating a vest into your rotation as a forward layering piece with that go-to white T-shirt.
