I Test-Drove 2019's Biggest Jean Trends for Under $200

Is there anything more sartorially satisfying than purchasing a brand-new pair of jeans? A pair that is perfectly on trend, looks and feels absolutely fantastic in, and begs repeat wears. Luckily, there are a handful of refreshing denim styles and silhouettes that are trending for 2019 to quench my new-denim thirst. On a quest to add some cool new styles to my wardrobe this season, I test-drove some of the biggest denim trends to find the ones I loved most—based on fit, wearability, and novelty, of course. Because jeans aren’t exactly the cheapest items to buy in this day and age, I made sure every pair I picked cost $200 or less. (And because I know myself too well, one pair is never enough!)

From trending loose-fit silhouettes to jeans in this year’s must-have hues, scroll below for the biggest jean trends I tried and tested for under $200. (For reference, I am 5'7" and usually wear a size 27.)

Loose Fit

Slouchy is the new skinny—and I couldn't be more pleased. The '90s baggy silhouette is huge for 2019. Celebrities and fashion girls alike have been wearing them in full force (Kendall and the Hadid sisters are major fans). I'm head over heels for this loose fit mid-rise silhouette from Agolde. They're trendy, roomy, and ridiculously comfortable.

High-Rise, Relaxed Straight Leg

I absolutely love the more relaxed fit through the leg on these high-waisted jeans. They flatter in all the right places and are perfectly on trend right now.

Exposed Button Fly

Exposed buttons on jeans are having a major moment right now, and I've been excited to add some to my arsenal. These new ones from Topshop are not only super flattering but clock in at under $100.

Wide-Leg Jeans (Bonus If They're in Yellow)

Yellow is one of the biggest colors for spring (from marigold hues to soft pale pastels). The lively color is cropping up on all types of denim this season from jackets to jeans. This wide-leg pair from H&M exude a 70s retro feel yet still look modern and fresh. The price is just right too.

Cropped Straight Leg

The Editor jeans are Topshop's buzzy new arrival of the season. They have a high-rise straight leg fit in non-stretch denim and come in a variety of washes (I'm wearing mid-blue.) They are definitely easy to wear and look great with heels and sneakers alike. I will note that they have a very extreme crop, so I would opt for a longer length leg (34") if you don't want them too short.

Ultra-High Rise Straight

Levi's called these the Ribcage jeans for a reason! With an elongating 12" rise, these trendy straight-leg jeans are the new Levi's hero piece of the year. They're already causing a buzz among our editors here at Who What Wear.

Beige

Every shade of beige is blowing up right now, and the easiest way to take on the trend is with taupe-tinted jeans. These cuffed ones from & Other Stories are refreshingly cool. (Side note: They do crease pretty easily, so have your iron at the ready.)

Up next, here's how celebrities are wearing this year's biggest jean trend.
