What are the need-to-have bag styles for spring?

What are the need-to-have bag styles for spring?

Spring is that amazing time of year when nature offers an abundance of newness in color, texture, and shape. We think your spring bag collection should be just as brilliantly assorted and refreshing, so we have broken down some must-have carryalls that honor this season’s sweet miscellany.

Must-Have #1: A Tote
A thin leather tote is a perfect daytime bag that not only holds your essentials, but also your lightweight sweater or jacket needed for the crisp mornings and late afternoons. We love an unexpected color (poppy orange or grass green!) and one that boasts straps that can be slung over your shoulder or worn cross-body.

Must-Have #2: A Backpack
Yes, we are tickled by designer backpacks--everyone from Pierre Hardy to Alexander Wang has made them cool again. We love the soft leather versions in delicious colors (camel or yellow) that merge fashion and function in a way that celebrates our city-adventurer side.

Must-Have #3: A Clutch
We are perpetual fans of the omnipresent clutch, as it fits nicely in the above totes and backpacks and can be pulled out for impromptu afternoon cocktails or after-work dinners. Set your neutral or sparkly little numbers to the side this season and take a risk with a print or patterned one. (Try ikat or a bold floral.) Tempted to try one of the transparent or Lucite clutches you saw on the runway or red carpet? We say go for it! They feel so clean and cool and, of course, go with just about everything!
