7 Fall Styling Tricks I'm Stealing From Zara
Meet Lauren, Who What Wear fashion editor and co-founder of The Devils Wear Zara. Lauren is so obsessed with Zara that we started calling her The Zara Scout. Now she’s turning the nickname into a franchise so she can regularly share her insider knowledge of the brand with you, including all her hacks, secrets, and must-haves.
When you find that your well of fresh outfit ideas has sadly run dry, do what I do and go to the magic wishing well of Zara. While I know you've heard of the store and are familiar with the products, what you might not know is that the way Zara styles clothes is actually just as good (if not better) than the product itself. At the turn of each new season, I like to take time to sift through the new product available at Zara and figure out how I can use the way in which the retailer styled its models to inform my outfits.
So, after a thorough investigation of the best fall 2018 outfits on Zara, I've narrowed my favorite styling tricks down to seven for you here. Below, you'll see the looks that stood out to me the most—ones that are inventive and unique yet somehow still affordable. Follow the path of fun Zara styling, and you'll be well on your way to some of your best fall outfit ideas yet.
The New Sweater-Vest
Zara proved that up until now, we've only been scratching the surface of the ways in which we can wear a sweater. Case in point: this look here. Wrap a printed sweater around a thin turtleneck for a little extra warmth and style.
Shop the look:
Weather-Resistant Zebra
Let your favorite animal pieces carry into fall with a little layering imagination. Take this printed shirt for example: Wear it on top of a turtleneck and cinch it in with a mini belt bag. A waterproof bucket hat adds yet another element of seasonal preparedness.
Shop the look:
Two Sweaters Are Better Than One
Why wear one printed statement sweater when you could wear two? If Zara's styling is teaching us anything right now, it's that more is more.
Shop the look:
Beanie Matching
I don't know why I didn't think of it before, but matching your beanie to your sweater is so cool and so convenient. Instead of having to search for a beanie that looks fresh instead of yet another cold-weather inconvenience topping your body and covering up your outfit.
Shop the look:
Sock Pop
Monochrome looks are great and all, but they never really excited me as much as other styling techniques did. That is until I saw this outfit. The bright and surprising blue socks paired with strappy sandals are just the festive twist I was looking for in my fall 2018 wardrobe.
Shop the look:
Casual Suiting
Dress it up, dress it down… Whichever way you slice it this fall, there's no denying the rightful place of a T-shirt underneath a punchy suit. Crisp chunky sneakers are basically the frosting on the sartorial cake, so layer it on.
Shop the look:
Oversize Shearling
I've been seeing a lot of oversize shirts this season in all shapes and kinds. This fleece one, however, won my heart instantly. Never would I have thought I could pull off wearing it as an actual dress, but this look fully convinced me otherwise.
