We’ve already seen how Olivia Palermo, Banana Republic’s Global Style Ambassador, flawlessly styled her looks in their new campaign with NYC in mind. But this versatile spring collection is clearly ready to take us from coast to coast, and we bet there’s a must-have to be found no matter where you live or #WhatMovesYou. To prove our theory, we’re launching a new series, Style by City, where three fashion influencers from around the country share the perfect weekend essentials for their hometown. First up: Fashion blogger Sheryl Luke of Walk in Wonderland, who told us which pieces are her Los Angeles must-haves.
L.A. It girl Sheryl Luke’s style is seriously covetable, anchored in casual-cool pieces that effortlessly breeze from day to night. Luke puts a priority on finding looks that work across her weekend itinerary, which typically involves hitting spots around the city that motivate her style. Whether she’s grabbing a cup of hand-poured coffee in Silver Lake, enjoying lunch by the beach in Santa Monica, or exploring the Arts District downtown, Luke tells us her home base of 10 years is brimming with sartorial inspiration.

Banana Republic’s ultra-versatile Suede Moto Jacket is Luke’s favorite third piece; it’s perfect to throw on to combat L.A.’s evening chill when you’re having dinner with a view. Her top spot for dining as the sun’s going down? “The sunset over the Pacific Ocean is something else, so Nobu in Malibu is a must. That jacket is going to come in handy!” she shares.
“Jeans rule the day,” says Luke, who explains that L.A. tends to lean more casual than cities like New York. The trick is finding just the right pieces to subtly amp up a laid-back look. There are plenty of ways to make a statement with accessories, whether it’s doubling up on denim touches or upgrading your footwear to a rich-toned suede that feels just right on the West Coast. These heels get the nod of approval from Luke: Pairing denim with a pair of block-heeled suede sandals is quintessential L.A.
This super-soft sweater is worthy of wardrobe-staple status, as it offers up just the right amount of detail. Note the slight flare at the wrist: It’s spring’s brunch-friendly iteration of the much more dramatic bell-sleeve that dominated 2016.
The bursts of red in this chic printed blouse add just the right amount of pop to Luke’s classic color palette, making this look feel fresh and ready for spring. “I have been somewhat conservative with color in the past,” Luke says, explaining her desire to test out a bolder look this season. The oversize florals keep the top from feeling too busy, perfect for someone still testing the waters when it comes to prints. Remember, less fabric make experimenting with prints even more accessible, so try easing your way in with this sleeveless version if you want to take things slow.
