4 Major Spring Denim Trends to Know for 2023
From the key denim silhouettes spotted on the S/S 23 runways to cool blue jeans outfits seen on the streets of New York and Paris during fashion month, there are some major spring denim trends for 2023. Specifically, there are four essential ones to know if you're interested in updating your denim collection for the new season, which includes everything from shapes that are on the rise to the color that is gaining momentum to how denim is being styled.
Loose and low silhouettes are continuing, so you can rest assured that you'll get plenty more wear out of those pieces if you've already invested in the trend. Long denim maxi skirts feel fresh and new. Notably, they were a huge trend on the street style scene during fashion month for the F/W 23 collections, so we can expect to see even more of the trend in the coming months. The runways and street style set endorsed dark washes and denim-on-denim looks with updated styling tweaks. Keep scrolling to see the four major spring denim trends for 2023 and shop each of them.
Low-Rise Jeans
Though controversial, low-rise jeans are here to stay. What sets them apart from super low denim from the early 2000s is a slightly higher rise and a loose and relaxed silhouette—each element makes the trend more wearable than its predecessors. There were many cool takes on the trend in S/S 23 collections from Bottega Veneta, Jacquemus, and Dior.
Denim Maxi Skirts
If I had to recommend one denim trend for spring 2023, it would be the denim maxi skirt. Spotted in the S/S 23 collections of brands such as Tibi, we saw a return to the '90s silhouette with takes that range from minimalism to grunge.
Denim on Denim
When it comes to denim for spring, the more, the better. At least that's the case with the rise of denim-on-denim looks that pair jeans with pieces such as button-down tops and denim jackets. This is another area where we saaw looser silhouettes, but it works just as well with more tailored pieces.
Dark-Wash Denim
Lived-in medium and light denim washes have been dominant for the last several years, but we're seeing more dark-wash denim for spring 2023. The deeper wash adds an element of polish and sophistication that make these jeans the perfect piece for transitioning from day to night.
