I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again: summer is my favorite season to dress for. I’m a sucker for bright colors, mini dresses, chic little tops, white pants, high slits, vacation looks, I could go on and on. But what I really love about summer fashion is the shoes. Boots are always going to have a special place in my heart, and I do still wear them throughout the summer, but this is really the season where I wear my most fun, bold, stylish footwear.

There have been so many shoe trends coming our way this season that I can’t wait to try them out, however, five of them stood out to me, in particular. Strappy heeled sandals, high-heeled wedges (I know, I’m also surprised they’re coming back), flat sandals, platform heels, and clogs. Shoes are truly the cherry on top of every look, and they can really make or break an outfit. So when it comes to my shoe collection, I don’t mess around. I went to my trusted, go-to affordable retailers Urban Outfitters, Zara, and H&M to do some much-needed shoe shopping.

Keep scrolling to see the shoes I’ve added to my cart to try out all my new favorite summer footwear trends.

Strappy Heeled Sandals

These are always a summer staple if you ask me. The majority of my summer shoe collection is strappy sandals. Something about them just always gives me a Carrie Bradshaw vibe, which I’m never not going for. Strappy sandals are your opportunity to add some color to a look, even some sparkle if you’re brave enough.

Flat Sandals

If you know me, you know that I’m a bona fide heels girl. That being said, I have recently seen the light when it comes to chic flat sandals for summer. They really do give that cool-girl, model-off-duty feel, and let’s be honest: living in NYC, they are just a lot more practical for running around the city in the summer. I am slowly building my flat sandals collection, and I’m glad I came around to these super-chic summer shoes.

Wedges

The trend many of us never thought we would see be resurrected is back for summer 2022. I’ll admit it, I got rid of my wedges a long time ago. To me, they felt dated and unfashionable—two words I never want to describe any part of my wardrobe. Lately, I have been spotting some wedges with this sleek, streamlined, almost futuristic-looking vibe to them and I have never been more excited about trying them again. I really love Zara’s collection of nude and metallic wedge sandals. In fact, I just got a pair for myself.

Platforms

This is a trend that I hope never goes away. Okay, yes, it may have something to do with the fact that I’m 5’2” and really love how tall platforms make me feel. But that aside, platform heels are actually much more comfortable in my opinion because they level you out a little more evenly with the height of the heel. I love the vintage vibe that they have and how they really do make everyone's legs look fire.

Clogs

The "coastal grandma” aesthetic is working overtime on this trend, and to my surprise, I’m into it. My mom has been wearing clogs forever, and admittedly, I used to throw a little shade her way for loving them so much. Now, here I am scrolling through pages and pages of clogs trying to find a perfect pair to add to my shoe collection. I can see myself styling these with some white linen pants and a sun hat or a maxi dress.
