5 Practical Ways to Style the Sheer Top Trend
You're not alone if you're intimidated by the thought of wearing a sheer shirt. See-through materials like mesh, lace, and organza make the naked trend a pretty daring one. It comes as no surprise when we see celebs from Kendall Jenner to Emily Ratajkowski wearing barely there styles, but whenever I see a sheer shirt hanging on the rack, I think, how do I actually wear this if I'm not a model? Before I wrote it off completely, there are a few ways to style sheer shirts that had me reconsidering the trend.
From creative ways to layer the top to which styles, in particular, you should be shopping for, these five sheer shirt outfits are surefire ways to wear the trend without having the trend wear you. Go on to see which outfits I'm inspired by, and then shop the sheer shirts to test-drive the looks for yourself.
I styled my mesh mock-neck top as I would any other plain turtleneck. Because my sheer top had a more snug fit, I opted to layer a solid tank on top of it instead of underneath.
This is the simplest way to wear a sheer shirt. Just throw it on over what you're already wearing and leave it unbuttoned and open as a jacket.
Get creative and layer a crop top or a solid bralette over your shirt. This works especially well if your sheer piece isn't skintight.
Opt for a neutral or natural-toned shirt to keep things surprisingly classic.
Shop for a top with sheer-only sleeves as a no-brainer way to test-drive the trend. No layering or inventive styling needed.
