This season, we've seen the rise of a number of shoe trends. One of the most interesting observations I've made, however, is that many fashion people are swapping out their heels for flats. See-through mesh shoes and bedazzled Mary Janes finished with studs and rhinestones are among the major flats trends that fashion people have been flocking to that are worthy of a spot in your closet. But I also have my eyes set on another under-the-radar style that is dominating this summer: polished flats.

I've noticed that the shoes fall into one of two camps. They're either pointed slingbacks that have a sleek and refined silhouette or softer, more classic takes on ballerina flats. The easy flats have been sweeping the outfits of the fashion set and are proving to be the essential shoes of the season when you're ready to take a break from heels—often serving as the finishing piece to add to a look with jeans or a maxi skirt. Ahead, shop the best polished flats to add to your closet.
