I'm a Firm Believer in Statement Jackets, and This Mango Buy Is Just So Good
Someone once asked me the one item of clothing I would most recommend investing in. Perhaps expecting me to say a basic, she was surprised when I replied a statement jacket. This isn't something that will necessarily fit into everyone's wardrobe, but for me, it's the one thing I turn to again and again. It's by far the easiest way to add personality to the clean-lined staples sitting in my wardrobe. Well, this week, I stumbled across a Mango jacket that could not be a better example of the power of souped-up outwear.
It comes in a cosy faux-fur fabric, delicate shade of pale yellow and simple silhouette, and I couldn't help but fall in love with it the moment I saw it on the site. My suspicions were confirmed when trendsetter Blanca Miró was snapped in the jacket on her Instagram feed (styled with a very cool pair of animal-print Mango trousers, I might add). It's the sort of style that would look very Brit It girl with a crew-neck knit, slouchy jeans and combat boots but then easily transition into the evening with tailored trousers, heels and a silky cami top.
Who What Wear contributor Lily Russo-Bah tried on a similar faux-fur style recently, which confirmed Mango's ability to deliver premium-feeling fabrics. She wrote, "Buying into faux fur can be tricky, but even the most exclusive designers are replacing the real deal with a more ethical substitute. … I thought this one looked so premium that it came home with me… a success!"
So if you're looking for something to give your basics wardrobe a little je ne sais quoi, scroll down to see the dream Mango statement jacket, and shop similar styles.
