Celebrities and Fashion People Will Forever Carry This Essential Handbag Style
I wouldn’t be a fashion editor if I wasn’t always ready to sing the praises of a large black handbag. Through thick and thin, a spacious black bag is the wardrobe addition that will work overtime to ensure your comfort and style remains intact. Whilst daily commuters will argue its necessity, I would go so far as to argue that no wardrobe is complete without one. For any over three-hour excursion outside of the home, a large black bag offers the space required to bring your essentials in tow, better yet, its sophisticated colour and streamlined cut ensures a polished edge that will elevate any outfit it pairs with. Even more, I'm newly inspired by some of my favourite style icons to shop a large, black bag to see me through. From Rosie Huntington-Whiteley to Katie Holmes and Hailey Bieber, all of my favourite celebrities have been spotted as of late with a black oversized accessory in their clutches.
Whilst a large, black bag remains an evergreen wardrobe staple, we've been spotting more and more celebrities swapping their colourful minis for the practical, roomy style this winter. Whether running between meetings, heading out for the night or enjoying a busy day, even the most fashionable celebs can't resist the practicality of a black, spacious bag.
For us mere mortals, our criteria is a little heavier on the side of practicality. For commuting to and from the office, your bag should be big enough to carry a laptop, charger, notepad, glasses (prescription and/or sun), a snack or two and your makeup must-haves—and that's in addition to the essentials. If you're anything like me, your work bag quickly reaches capacity, so I must argue that the bigger the bag, the better.
Me? I managed to find my perfect large, black handbag thanks to the plethora of secondhand designer styles that abound on the likes of eBay and Vestiaire Collective. But if you're looking for brand-spanking new, this kind of classic style is always available across a wide spectrum of price points.
Whether you're looking for a does-it-all work bag or simply need this hero item in your wardrobe to tote your essentials, shop my favourite large, black bags below.
