For the last few years, I’ve found myself becoming increasingly averse to skinny jeans. Sure, I’ll toss on a pair from time to time (ankle crop, of course), but for the most part, I find them unflattering. I know what you’re thinking: Skinny jeans slim and elongate, Nicole. I disagree! I have a curvy bum and hips, and when I slip into le skinnies, I look like an awkward inverted triangle. My personal opinion is that this jean shape is best suited for those with a boyish silhouette, which as we all know is only a small percentage of the female population.
Though I know I may be making some enemies by proclaiming this (don’t hate me!), if you happen to agree with me, hopefully the subject of today’s roundup is of interest. If you don’t agree with me, that’s okay; you might still like today’s story, too!
Lately, I’ve noticed a resurgence of baggy, oversize jeans on some of my favorite street style stars. I chalk this up to not only the ’90s revival that seemingly everyone is on board with but also a desire to try something fresh. I’ll admit these don’t really have a place in the boardroom, but that doesn’t mean you can’t fish out an old pair of Levi’s or invest in a designer pair from my shopping roundup below. Baggy jeans, while not as curve-hugging as a pair of skinnies, are a nice break from the norm. Plus, I’ve been testing them out lately, and I still manage to feel sexy in mine. It almost feels like an update to the borrowed-from-the-boys look.
Anyway, take a look below for a few ways to try baggy jeans out, and if you’re intrigued, shop a pick or two from my roundup.
