These High-Street Pieces Make for Happy Scrolling This Spring
Spring really couldn't come soon enough this year. Regardless of the lockdown situation, I'm just looking forward to longer days, warm breezes, and the ability to leave the house without industrial levels of layering. In the meantime, I'll just have to content myself with poring over the spring collections, which are being drip-fed to us by our favourite high-street brands. I might be wearing my puffiest puffer right now, but in my mind, I'm strolling through the local park in a pastel-coloured cropped jacket (preferably this one from & Other Stories), a white tee, and wide-leg jeans. Sigh.
But worry not, it'll arrive soon enough, and when it does, we'll be ready and waiting, armed with everything we need to kick off the new season in style. As always, we ask you to use our shopping round-up as a jumping-off point to navigate your wardrobe, discover old favourites, and experiment with new combinations. A fashion mood board, if you will. However, if you find certain categories lacking, then feel free to scroll on down to find the spring 2021 pieces that will look great now and for many seasons to come.
The main themes that are coming out of the new-season drops include elevated basics, pops of pastel, mix-and-match neutrals, and the odd statement print. All of the below can be worn now: Just layer them up with a ribbed knit, a layered shacket, jeans, and combat boots, and then when the mercury rises, swap out boots for loafers and puffers for belted jackets. All ready to go? Scroll down to see and shop my spring 2021 edit.
Arket
Arket has really invested in unusual pops of colour alongside its classic neutrals this season. My highlight has to be the lime green wide-neck ribbed knit, which I'll wear with high-waisted jeans.
& Other Stories
Another typically minimalist brand embraces colour for spring 2021, and boy are we on board. Pastel is the name of the game for & Other Stories, whose new-season drop includes the dreamiest colour-block knit and a chic blush-pink jacket.
COS
COS sticks to its signature aesthetic this year with clean-lined tailoring with the odd hit of print—this spring it's tie-dye. We plan on layering up with white jeans, a white tee, and the brand's stylish ombré cashmere vest this March.
Whistles
If you're looking for versatile, polished staples, Whistles is the place for you. Its spring line-up includes everything from throw-on-and-go jumpsuits to burgundy leather shirt dresses. So cool.
Marks and Spencer
You can always rely on Marks and Spencer to deliver timeless pieces with the odd nod to current trends—these are pieces that will look good whether you're 18 or 80. At the top of our list? The textured checked shacket.
Zara
Zara sticks with 2020's minimalist theme this season, and we're certainly not complaining. From layering shirt dresses to neutral blazers, this exactly what we want to wear when we go back to work.
Karen Millen
Despite being a brand I haven't considered much in recent years, Karen Millen has really delivered on the spring 2021 front with denim dresses and cosy co-ords. Oh, and the moment I saw the below pink leather blazer, I was instantly besotted.
H&M
WFH dressing never looked so chic thanks to H&M. With printed shackets, pleated trousers, and beautiful blouses all making an appearance, this is comfy dressing made easy.
Monki
For feel-good spring prints and offbeat silhouettes, Monki is the brand to see. The below second-skin top is sure to add a new-season twist to all your wintery separates.
Reiss
Reiss has always delivered on smart, timeless staples, and this spring is no different. We're adding the brand's denim shirt and zip-up loungewear top to our basket as we speak.
John Lewis & Partners
John Lewis & Partners has really aced its textures this season, with fuzzy knits and luxe leathers coming together to create the perfect spring capsule. Just add the odd dash of sage green and you're good to go.
