Find a Gucci Model Who Doesn't Remind You of Harry Potter… I'll Wait

Just when we thought Alessandro Michele couldn't outdo himself any more than he already had, his F/W 18 collection for Gucci went truly next-level. We're talking dragons, snakes, decapitated (fake) human heads, and more. While frantically scrolling through the looks, we began to feel a strange nostalgia. Obviously, each look was one-of-a-kind, but we couldn't help but feel like we had been here before, to this place, with these people. Was it a dream? Was it a past collection? Oh no—it was Hogwarts.
Harry Potter fans can get a little protective of their fandom (true Hufflepuff behavior, if you ask Cole Sprouse or this editor), but it takes a movie watcher to spot the Gucci models' resemblance to J.K. Rowling's famed universe. Beyond the literal dragons, snakes, and centaur that accompanied models down the runway, we saw a range of magical character inspiration, from a young Tom Riddle to Luna Lovegood and beyond.
Color us obsessed, but we combed through the entire Gucci F/W 18 collection to pick out the looks that reminded us of Harry Potter characters the most, because blimey—the resemblance was uncanny.
Tom Riddle
At first glance, this model seems identical to He Who Must Not Be Named, but it's the striking smirk (and the side-slicked hair) that reminded us too much of Voldemort, aka Tom Riddle, in his younger years.
Luna Lovegood
The ruffled metallic pink dress Luna wears to Professor Slughorn's annual Christmas party with Harry will forever live on in our hearts.
Bill Weasley
While some may think this looks more Fred and George Weasley, true fans will spot the nearly identical resemblance to Bill Weasley.
Professor Quirrell
Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone introduced us to professor Quirrell and his signature head wrap. Of course, the style choice is actually used to conceal and protect Voldemort, who uses Quirrell as a host while regaining strength.
Dolores Umbridge
We'd recognize that pink tweed suit from miles away. While this Gucci look was way more interesting and forward (cue sneakers and face mask), memories of professor Umbridge and her cat obsession definitely came to mind for us.
Olympe Maxime
Ah, the moment when Hagrid meets Madame Maxime is one that will go down in history. They shared many romantic moments throughout Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, but their expert dancing (and the dress Maxime wore while doing so) is what we remember and love most.
Sybill Trelawney
Sybill is the divinations professor at Hogwarts, giving and educating on prophecies for a living, so naturally, her bohemian garb is hard to miss.
Nagini
Yes, there was a snake on the runway, and instantly we thought of Voldemort's trusted companion Nagini. Would it really be a Harry Potter roundup without an appearance from the infamous Horcrux?
Bathilda Bagshot
Although she's one of Dumbledore's oldest friends, you may only remember her as the little old woman from The Deathly Hallows when Voldemort uses her to conceal his Nagini's true form from Harry and Hermione in Godric's Hollow.
Merpeople
This Gucci look so reminded us of the frightening merpeople from Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. If you recall, the second task in the Triwizard Tournament tasked participants with breathing underwater in an effort to recapture their closest loved ones from the merpeople.
Rita Skeeter
A reporter for The Daily Prophet, Rita wore a silky green number that's one for the books… so to speak. The glasses and vintage-inspired getup in this Gucci look reminded us of Rita and her remarkable style in The Goblet of Fire.
Keep checking in because knowing us, we'll be trying to make Harry Potter references from this Gucci collection all day long.
