We're Breaking Up With Our Sweats for These Put-Together Looks

While I do my part to stay inside—writing stories from home, rotating my new sweatpants collection, doing puzzles, and baking until my body becomes 90% banana bread—I find myself constantly dreaming of what life will be like when all of this is over. And let me just say that I am ready. I miss happy hours with friends, date nights with my boyfriend, Sunday trips to the farmers market, and working with my co-workers in our West Hollywood office. So much so that I've already done a lot of online shopping for post-quarantine living, starting with one of my favorite retailers, Free People. Its selection of midi dresses, dad jeans, strappy sandals, gold jewelry, and more is just the spruce my wardrobe needs.
I'm not the only one planning my outfits for the upcoming months: Many of my fellow Who What Wear editors are coming up with cute looks for when they're ready to ditch their sweatpants. I hit up senior fashion editor, Lauren Eggertsen, who’s currently residing at her parents' house in Laguna Niguel, to see what she's planning on wearing. Curious to see what the two of us have put together? Keep scrolling.
What Lauren's Wearing:
"This dress is so versatile—I almost don't even know where to start. The slightly oversize fit allows me to style it as a casual look with sandals or even over a swimsuit, but it can easily be dressed up as well. When I am finally allowed to meet up with my friends for a drink again, you will, without a doubt, see me in this dress and some strappy heels," says Eggertsen.
"There is nothing I love more than a big T-shirt you can manipulate to look however you want. I styled this one atop a simple black bikini with a fun headscarf for some needed color," says Eggertsen. "I find whether I'm at the beach or in my backyard, an oversize tee is always what I want to throw on after time spent in the sun, and this one did just the trick."
"I love styling basics with something a tad surprising, like a printed headscarf and a trendy sandal. Instantly, you've got yourself an interesting outfit that all started with jeans and a tee," says Eggertsen.
What I'm Wearing:
It's going to be so warm in L.A. when we're finally allowed out (here's hoping), so I'm committing to only wearing breezy midi dresses with shoes that show my toes—there's no question about it. I'm excited to wear this outfit on my next date night to an actual restaurant with my boyfriend.
More and more neutrals get added to my closet on the daily, so these ecru-dad jeans are a must for me. This simple look will take me right from the office to happy-hour drinks with my co-workers.
Need some more inspiration? No matter where you are or what activity you’re doing, Free People has something for your everyday joy.
