This Is How We'll Approach Maternity Dressing in 2018

Recently, it seems as though every fashion influencer has announced a pregnancy. Because of the way the fashion and blogging space has evolved, it’s not super surprising that all these women are relatively the same age and becoming mothers at the same time, but it is fun to watch nonetheless. The most inspiring thing about the way these women have treated their maternity style, however, is in their lack of maternity-centric attitudes.

Rather than letting their pregnancies impact their personal styles, these women seem to have embraced their bellies without losing themselves along the way. Though I’ve never been pregnant myself, we’ve all heard about the difficulties and discomfort that go along with dressing your new body, so the most important thing, is to wear what makes you feel comfortable. But if you're looking for some outfit ideas, that's where we come in.

To see how some of the most stylish mums-to-be have navigated maternity dressing, keep scrolling.

Pandora Sykes

Pandora Sykes wrote about the topic of maternity dressing in an article for Man Repeller titled, “How To Get Dressed If You’re Up The Duff – And You Hate Maternity Clothes”. Sykes recommends shopping at high street stores like H&M and ASOS to find stylish outfits that will fit a quickly-changing body. One tip to take note of: have fun with accessories. Sykes wrote that earrings, in particular, have been a source of “micro joy” while dressing during her pregnancy.

Chiara Ferragni

Looking as glamorous as ever, Chiara has only made slight adjustments to her pregnancy wardrobe. Swapping body-con minis for shift-style dresses (like the bedazzled Dior mini dress complete with cutouts she recently wore), and trading in high-waist jeans for low-slung. Needless to say, her relaxed approach has been inspiring.

Pernille Teisbaek

Before the birth of her son in 2017, the Danish street style star spoke with Vogue about her maternity style. Though she did grow quite the baby bump, the blogger maintained her signature cool-girl style throughout. In an interview with Vogue, Teisbaek gave tips for other mums-to-be. Her recommendations included wearing your boyfriend or husband’s shirt and growing into oversized blazers, wearing them as normal.

Leandra Medine Cohen

The famous blogger behind Man Repeller, Leandra Medine only recently announced her pregnancy, and has shared a few snaps of her growing bump on Instagram Stories. This recent selfie shows that she won't be changing her style anytime soon. Already a self-proclaimed legging-lover we can probably expect to see the blogger opting for even more Outdoor Voices. Plus, we know we can count on Medine to keep up with her fun accessorising.
