I'm Escaping the NYC Winter and Heading to Mexico—Here's What I'm Packing
If you live in New York, you know it’s common to plan a winter escape, especially in February, when we’re on month three of the cold, and the shortest month manages to feel the longest. When I stepped outside this morning, it was 10°, so the Mexico trip I have coming up truly can’t come soon enough.
Since I’m (impatiently) counting down the days, I’ve been making a mental list of things I already own and plan to bring, along with a few new pieces currently on my wishlist.
Some of my favorite brands I've been browsing for fun vacation clothes include Belle Anna, Campbell & Kramer, Geel, Gimaguas, Mais x Frida, and Olga Joan. On the beauty side, my routine will be a bit more pared-back, with favorites like EltaMD sunscreen and Rōz haircare. For in-flight essentials, I always like to make sure to bring compression socks, a cashmere sweater, and over-the-ear headphones.
Keep scrolling to see what I’m considering packing.
Swimwear
Some of my go-to swimwear brands are Baserange, Frankies Bikinis, Fruity Booty, Matteau, Miaou, and With Jéan, and I recently discovered Ismê Swim, a small business run by a mother and daughter. One of my friend's recently told me she gets all of hers from H&M.
Clothes
Things I brought on my last trip to Jamaica that I loved wearing (and will definitely pack again) include Chimi sunglasses, pointelle pieces from Cou Cou, the Lowen Midi Skirt, and the Havaianas Slim Flip Flop. For new items, I’d especially love a colorful set from Olga Joan as well as the Muriel Button Boatneck Mini Dress from Rowie, and I’m eyeing pieces from Enza Costa, Geel, Gimaguas, Guizio, and more.
Beauty
For beauty, I’m extremely particular about my haircare since I have fine hair—it’s definitely not the type that can handle just any hotel shampoo without leaving tangles or weighing it down. I love Rōz hair products and a Tangle Teezer. For fragrance, the classic Bal D’Afrique works for every occasion, so it’s a must-bring on trips.
In-Flight Essentials
I never get on a flight without my over-ear headphones, and I like to bring earplugs for an extra layer of comfort. I also love anything cashmere, and I never leave the house, or travel, without my sunglasses.
