I Style Celebrities For A Living—5 Fall Items My Clients Always Love Without Fail

Fall is just around the corner, which means we’re all just about due for a little wardrobe refresh. To get a little inspiration for what pieces might be worth adding to our Autumnal wardrobes, I reached out to celebrity stylist Vanessa Powell. Powell has styled Emma Roberts and many other Hollywood starlets, so her recommendations aren’t to be taken lightly. We tapped Powell to gain a little insight into what her clients are resonating with the most these days, to maybe make adding a few styles to our fall closest as easy as possible.
Below you’ll find a handful of styles Powell and her clients have been excited about wearing during fall. You’ll see everything from cuffs and resin bangles to retro prints and patterns. Not to mention, she’s broken down super helpful styling tips for each. Keep scrolling for the ultimate fall shopping inspiration.
1. Vest Tops
"Vest tops are the definition of easy and effortless while still reading totally professional-cool. I love pairing them with a little juxtaposition—think baggy jorts and a layered chain necklace—for that mix of polish and edge my clients can’t get enough of."— Vanessa Powell
2. Netted or Mesh Shoes
"From ballet flats to kitten heels, this subtly ‘nakey’ shoe trend is everywhere—it gives that barely-there effect that feels fresh for summer but still sleek enough to wear with trousers and tailoring into fall."— Vanessa Powell
3. Cuff Bracelets & Bangles
"This is one of my favorite comebacks of the season. Clients are having so much fun mixing metals and materials—stacking a bold silver cuff with a gold bangle or even pairing a resin style with fine jewelry for that high-low, styled-but-effortless feel."— Vanessa Powell
4. Slouchy Totes
"Boho is officially back, and the slouchy tote is the hero bag of the moment. It’s spacious, comfy to carry, and my favorite recommendation is always a rich brown suede—it looks just as chic with gauzy summer dresses as it does with structured fall coats."— Vanessa Powell
5. Retro Prints
"From gingham to polka dots, sweet retro-inspired prints are seeing a huge resurgence right now. They’ve been such a fun way to bring personality into closets and always make an outfit feel a little more playful."— Vanessa Powell
