One Busy NYC Fashion Editor, One Seriously Chill Fall Routine

It happens to the best of us: When it comes to our personal wellness resolutions, we start off every new year with the best of intentions (green smoothies, new bike shorts, mid-afternoon meditation breaks—the works). Usually, we start to slip by early February. We’re convinced we’ll kick ourselves back into gear over the summer, and by the time fall rolls around, we’re running on five hours of sleep and subsisting entirely on lukewarm black coffee and random snacks procured from the office break room. (Just me?)

As the days grow shorter and the nights grow longer, so too does our need to prioritize self-care, especially for those of us with incredibly busy weekday schedules. Just ask Who What Wear assistant shopping editor Grace O’Connell Joshua, who I’ve noticed has developed quite the wellness routine. "You can’t be your best self if you’re running on empty,” she explains. "Taking care of yourself is productive. It’s the only way you can really thrive in the other areas of your life.”

Ahead, she’s showing us how she gets through her bustling workweek as a New York City–based fashion editor with an assist from her favorite Olly supplements.

Her first order of business every morning? A strong cup of coffee. "I never skip it,” Grace shares. "It’s such an important part of my morning routine and getting myself in the right headspace to start the day. It’s like a small moment of self-care in the morning to just sit and reset from the night before.”

From there, she takes her favorite morning vitamins for an extra boost of mood-balancing vitamin D. "If I’m being honest, I wasn’t someone who really took supplements—until I tried Olly,” she admits. "Hello Happy gummy worms are the perfect way to start your day on a positive note.”

After breakfast, it’s time to go through her morning beauty routine and get dressed for wherever her workday will take her. Some days, that’s going to a showroom or press appointment; other days, she’ll start off her morning checking emails at her apartment before heading out.

Next, she’s off to Who What Wear’s NYC office to dig into her stories. "I don’t know if I would describe myself as someone who gets everything done effortlessly, but I’m a big list person,” Grace says of her work style. "When I write out what I need to get done for the day, it helps me see clearly what to do and figure out how to prioritize my time.”

For lunch, she’ll usually go for a salad or a sandwich. "I like to eat food that not only tastes good but is also good for me,” she explains. "When I’m full and energized, I’m more productive and in a better mood overall.” And when she needs an extra boost as the afternoon wears on, she swears by Olly’s Ultra Strength Brain softgels. "I love how they help me focus during the day without making me feel jittery,” she says.

After the office, she’s off to attend press events and dinners. "It depends on the week, but I usually attend three to four a week,” Grace explains. "They’re one of the things I love about being an editor; it’s so fun to get to learn about brands that you love, and often you get the chance to speak to the designers themselves. I want my readers to feel confident that I know what I’m talking about, so the more I get to connect with the brands I write about, the better.”

New Yorkers with busy schedules know better than anyone how important it is to develop a nightly self-care routine. And for Grace, that means applying her favorite calming oils and reading a good book before turning off the lights. "I try to get at least eight hours of sleep each night, but realistically, I get six to seven,” she admits. (Fashion editors: They’re just like us!) Lately, though, she’s been taking Olly’s Blackberry Zen sleep supplements and getting a much more restful night’s sleep.
