You may think we're getting ahead of ourselves, but we call it proactive when we say bring on the fall jeans. While denim is really a 365-days-a-year trend, fall still kind of feels like a big old welcome back when it comes to slipping into our best-fitting, best-feeling pairs. And we've got the intel on which pairs you might want to invest in first straight from the experts.

In order to determine which denim styles will be most in demand this year, we turned to insiders at two different boutiques, Sherri McMullen, of her eponymous store McMullen, and Kristen Cole, chief creative officer and president of TenOverSix. Together, their advice leads us to four top trends.

"For fall, denim is a bit more tailored than past seasons," McMullen tells us. "I'm seeing more trouser styles, boot cut, fuller legs, and long and lean silhouettes in clean washes." Similarly, Cole says that '70s flare jeans are also key for fall. She also calls out daring acid washes—"darks and neons" are choice colors—as well as vintage reworked pairs. "There is still a heavy vintage 501s influence, but now with more detail and reworking," she adds.

Below get a head start on fall jean shopping with the styles that will sure to be huge in a few months time.
