7 Coat Trends You Won't Regret in 10 Years—Promise

If you're the type who is off-put at the mention of Halloween before October or New Years' Eve before December, you might think it's a little early for me to start talking about coats in September. However, I'm not making the case about what to wear merely this season—I'm hand-picking the coats you can easily wear for the next 10 winters without worrying about them going out of style.

That's right: I believe these coat trends will stand the test of time and still be relevant in a decade. How's that for a solid investment? Scroll down to shop my favorite fall coat trends that will score you major ROI, along with styling ideas for each.

1. Military-Inspired Coats

A-line silhouette are universally popular for all body types.

This is giving me some Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band vibes.

2. Shearling-Trim Coats

This pink color is a tad unexpected, which is what makes it totally fresh.

I love how this is juxtaposed with a sweet floral dress.

3. Plaid Coats

Try to think of one place you couldn't wear this during the winter. Spoiler: You can't.

I love how this is tyled with flat lace-up boots.

A blazer/coat hybrid is supremely versatile.

4. Single-Breasted Black Wool Coats

If you only buy one new coat, make it this one. It's by far the most versatile (and one of the best priced).

Take good care of it and this baby will last you forever.

5. Leopard-Print Coats

I own many pieces from Ganni and I have found them all to be incredibly well-made.

Celebs like Bella Hadid and Emily Ratajkowski are obsessed with this brand.

6. Trench Coats

I've never been disappointed with a Madewell purchase.

This is a fantastic lightweight option for warmer fall days.

7. Puffer and Quilted Coats

Mackage will not let you down, even in the coldest of climates.

Yep, I'd also wear this with lace-up, lug-sole boots.

Mint green feels so fresh for fall and winter.
