I Asked My Fashion Friends Which Skims Pieces Are Actually Life-Changing

Lately, it feels like I can't have one conversation about either basics or shapewear without someone raving about Skims. The funny thing is, I've yet to try the popular brand, so I have admittedly felt a little out of the loop. This left me asking my fashion friends which pieces they swear by. Sure enough, most of them are die-hard fans and even collectors. This, of course, is no surprise with the incredible rise of Skims.

A huge reason for that success, according to my friends, is because the pieces provide comfort without sacrificing style, thanks to the practical and effortless designs made in soft fabrics. We're talking comfy thongs, versatile tops and bodysuits, cotton basics, effective shapewear, and more. Another welcome detail: the collections come in a wide range of sizes, which is always appreciated. Keep scrolling to check out 31 of the best Skims pieces.

"I'm someone who strictly wears thongs, and I feel like I've tried all the best styles on the market by now. When I really like a pair, I save it for a special day, and, currently, that happens to be this thong from Skims. The quality is next level, and they've lasted me over a year."

"My biggest pet peeve with ribbed tanks is when they get too loose, but this Skims Cotton Rib Tank has some magic woven into it because it really holds you in and smooths everything out. It's one of those basics that makes everything else you wear it with look 10 times better. Yep, I'm hooked."

"The Skims Soft Lounge Long Sleeve Dress in black or gray is one of my favorite pieces from the collection. It's a classic style and looks flattering on every body. It's so soft and comfortable, perfect for relaxing at home. Or add some gold earrings and sneakers or chic slides/sandals, and you're ready to meet friends for a coffee. So versatile."

"Recently, I've gone down a rabbit hole with Skims's Kyanite shade. It's this really unique shade of blue that's a little gray, so it's cool-toned and looks amazing against darker skin tones. Right now, I'm hoarding every piece of the color because it also sells out super quickly."

"The Skims Fits Everybody Camisole Thong Bodysuit is a winner forever. It's perfect for layering under a sweater, for coverage under a sheer top, and on its own for a simple sexy tank look. My favorite way to wear it is with a black tank and a silk maxi for date night or with wide-leg denim and a kitten heel for a chic, minimalist look."

"Shocking, I know, but my all-time favorite Skims item is the Fits Everybody Thong. I swear I own ten of these, and that's a low guess; it's probably more like 15. They're so soft, comfortable, and invisible. I always count on them whenever I'm wearing something sheer. Even when you can see them, they're so cute that it doesn't matter."
