I Design In-House for Nordstrom—These Are the Items I Think Everyone Will Love

If our team of fashion editors made a list of the stores we shop at the most, Nordstrom would undoubtedly rank pretty high. You too? Thought so. What can we say, the retailer stocks a wide variety of items to suit just about every style, including everything from top-notch basics to trendy staples. Nordstrom also offers a smattering of brands to choose from, including many that are from the Nordstrom Made collections and designed in-house.

Given the appeal of the lines included in this mix, we thought it could be intriguing to get to know one of the in-house designers a bit further with a debrief on some of the pieces she particularly loves designing in the range. Say hello to Shannon Reed, senior design director for Nordstrom Made women’s apparel. Reed designs pieces for a variety of labels from Halogen to Zella to Treasure & Bond. And while she deigns quite an assortment of current-feeling items that are woven throughout said collections, we thought her viewpoint on the key fall items that can be found amongst them all would be most interesting. Essentially, she shared with us the pieces she’s personally into right now that she thinks others might enjoy as well thanks to their versatile nature.

Trendy Separates

“Working from home has blurred the lines between lounge and daywear. I’ve been loving versatile items that are stylish enough to wear outside without compromising comfort and performance. My go-to WFH look is pairing a faux-leather pant with a sweatshirt for a cool sofa-to-street vibe.”

Statement Tops and Jewelry

“Numerous Zoom calls a day inspires me to dress to impress from the waist up. A beautiful printed top with a bright pop of color changes my mood instantly. Jewelry also comes to the rescue with statement earrings or an extravagant necklace.”

Chic Activewear

“One of the many effects that staying at home has had on my wardrobe is my newfound appreciation for activewear. This season, a lightweight run coat with reflectivity for early morning or evening runs/walks is a must! Pair with a compressive tight with secure pocketing for cell phone and or keys.”

Cozy Staples

“I am taking joy in investing in everyday luxury. It’s all about cozy and plush materials. With colder weather approaching, I want to be wrapped in cashmere or soft knits from head to toe, paired with the perfect slipper to complete the look.”
