I Prefer Block Heels Because They're Chic and Comfortable—These 20 Pairs Are Gorgeous
When I wear heeled sandals, I don't want to be teetering about in a pair that's razor thin. Sure, on occasion, those are nice, but as someone with things to do and places to go, I'm always going to choose a block-heel sandal over your standard pump. For one, block-heel sandals are comfortable, and while I'm no podiatrist, I'd put money on the fact that they're better for your feet (and therefore, your morale) than a stiletto. This is especially important if you live in a city where you walk a lot. I called NYC home for a long time and often wore my Maryam Nassir Zadeh strappy block heels (Did you see she just did a collab with J.Crew?) for hours at a time to pound the pavement. Long gone are the days when I can't keep up because I'm wearing the wrong shoes!
Not only are block-heel sandals great for everyday, but they're also essential if you have an event where you'll be on your feet awhile. This style is my go-to whenever I have a wedding (bridesmaids, take note), and I’ll tell you it sure is nice to be able to keep my shoes on to dance the night away. You can pick the height that suits you best, too. While I tend to go for a low-medium heel, if sky-high or platforms are more your thing, you can definitely find block heels of that variation as well, all of which I've included in my roundup below.
