4 Ways I Plan to Wear This Under-$100 Runway-Approved Accessory Come Fall
If there's one thing I learned from the latest runway shows, it's that belts are back and bigger than ever. My favorite trend just so happens to be something we refer to as "unnecessary belts" at Who What Wear HQ. As I write this, I am wearing a massive belt with a dress that doesn't require a belt at all just for the sake of fashion. People are piling up on belts in places you wouldn't even expect, so I decided to take full advantage of this trend and make all of my outfits a lot more interesting.
This fall, I want to buy a few different types of belts, so I'm keeping my budget under $100 and loading up on many options. I'll be swapping between silver and gold hardware, rotating between thick and thin, and picking colors you really just wouldn't expect—just wait until you see this belt collection of mine. Here are the styles that I'm currently considering.
But first, let's discuss the styling inspiration:
If you want to get creative with your unnecessary belt, take a long, billowy shirt or maybe even a dress to the next level by styling it with a pair of pants and a cool belt. Bonus points if your color scheme ends up looking like a tonal masterpiece.

Miniskirts and oversize button-down shirts? Absolutely yes. This might be the greatest styling combination to walk the Earth, and it gets even better. Thank you, Gucci, for adding the unnecessary belt on top. I can't imagine this ensemble without it. It just ties the whole look together.
Shop the look:
Winter can sometimes start to feel like a drab when you're mulling around in lifeless oversize coats that hide your figure. Oh, but the powers that come along with a belt worn over your coat. This is one of my favorite outfits for when I know I'll be outside a lot that day and want to look amazing.
Shop the look:
My ideal way of wearing an unnecessary belt lately has been on top of a dress that doesn't require one. I love how it adds an extra cinch at the waist and can make an item you've worn over and over feel brand-new.

I am always reaching for the belt that I have in this colorway.
I've been going for silver hardware more often lately, and this belt is next.
Sierra Mayhew was always destined to work in fashion, but she didn't know it at first. Growing up with no choice but to wear a rotation of school uniforms and activewear, her love for fashion really blossomed when she moved away for college and was able to finally define her very own personal style. Shortly thereafter, she interned at Elle magazine and instantly knew that editorial was for her. After graduating from the University of Notre Dame, she worked for ShopBazaar, contributing regularly to Bazaar.com, and finally made her way to Who What Wear, where she is an associate editor. When she’s not working, you can catch her always trying to catch a flight, rollerblading through New York City traffic, or exploring the latest luxury vintage boutique.
