Beauty Insiders Can't Stop Talking About Benefit's New Mascara

Of my entire makeup bag, there's one product I simply can't go without, and that's mascara. As a blonde, adding a simple swipe of mascara can transform my face by defining my eyes, and remains the most essential step in my makeup routine.

It's become such a crucial part of my getting ready process that I'm somewhat of a critic when it comes to mascaras, and for years I've relied on the same one. Well, change is afoot, because Benefit's newly released Fan Fest Mascara has officially taken first place on my dressing table.

Right now, Who What Wear UK readers can get a full-size Fan Fest Mascara with full-size Get Unblocked Cleanser for 30% off. Click here to redeem.

So, what does it take to knock my old favourite mascara off its pedestal? First, it's the shape of the brush. Having lighter lashes means that each lash has to be thoroughly coated—otherwise they look thin and barely there—so the curved edge of Fan Fest's brush ensures each and every lash gets a good swipe of mascara.

Even the outer corners, which define the shape of the eye, are catered for with this brush, and it's that little detail that makes the most impact. As most of us will be looking for the longest lashes around, the shape of Fan Fest mirrors that of the eyelid, so your lashes are coated from root to tip, accentuating their length as it goes. The brush bristles are another important aspect that sets this mascara apart, as the flex-wave fibres coat, separate and define the lashes, creating a fan effect that lives up to its name.

And then, it's the ingredients. Benefit has carefully formulated the mascara to be effective on a single application or layered up for an amplified effect. Provitamin B5 and cranberry extract are included to nourish and hydrate the lashes, whilst rice wax has been infused into the formula to help define and separate for a falsies-but-better effect. Even with these stellar ingredients, the formula remains lightweight, giving you the fluttery feel of freshly fanned lashes all day long.

I'm not the only one who's excited about the new launch—junior beauty editor Grace Lindsay is a longtime fan of Benefit mascaras. "I've always loved my Benefit mascaras, so you can imagine my excitement when I heard that the brand was releasing a new product to give your lashes a full-fan effect. From the curved brush to the nourishing ingredients, I can't wait to give this a go," she says.

Right now, Who What Wear UK readers get early access to an offer of a full-size Fan Fest and full-size Get Unblocked Oil Cleanser for 30% off. Get Unblocked is a pore-clearing, makeup-removing oil that can be used at night to ensure a fresh canvas to work on the next day. The gentle cleanser foams up and softly removes even long-wear makeup and waterproof mascara.
