Warm, Sensual and Sweet—These Caramel Perfumes Practically Guarantee Compliments
Caramel perfumes are perfect for this time of year. One fragrance-obessed beauty editor rounds up her top picks below.

One of the greatest joys in life has to be a good dessert. However, as a beauty editor, something that brings me equal amounts of joy is smelling like my favourite dessert. I'm a gourmand perfume lover through and through, and have built up quite the collection of vanilla fragrances, almond scents and even strawberry perfumes to help make my day just that little bit sweeter.
However, when it comes to autumn fragrances, there's one note that I favour above everything else. That note is caramel. If you're not a fan of overly sugary scents, in my opinion, caramel notes are the perfect balance between sweet and sophisticated. These perfumes often have a warm and rich scent profile, making them perfect for this time of year.
I have lots of caramel perfumes in my collection.
Whether you're heading out on a date or cosying up at home, one of the best caramel perfumes is bound to earn you compliments. Below, I've rounded up my favourite caramel scents for this time of year, from luxury fragrances to affordable body mists and more.
The Best Caramel Perfumes for Autumn 2025
- Best luxury caramel perfume: Penhaligon's Changing Constance
- Best affordable caramel perfume: Phlur Caramel Skin
- Best sweet caramel perfume: Sol de Janeiro Cheirosa 62
- Best warm caramel perfume: Prada Candy
- Best sensual caramel perfume: Pleasing Welcome Dreams
1. Penhaligon's Changing Constance
Key notes: Cardamom, pimento, salted butter caramel, tobacco
First up is my favourite caramel perfume of all time. This is the most sophisticated caramel scent I have tried and is ideal for those who prefer a more grown-up gourmand. It is part of the Penhaligon's Portraits collection, so the bottle itself is a work of art, but the fragrance is even better. The complex concoction of notes sounds like something that really shouldn't work together, but by blending salted caramel with smoky tobacco, you get this beautifully warm aroma that envelops the skin and makes wearing this feel like pouring hot caramel sauce over your favourite dessert.
2. Pleasing Welcome Dreams
Key notes: Caramel, jasmine, amber, vanilla, patchouli
Speaking of sophisticated caramel scents, let me introduce you to Welcome Dreams by Pleasing. This scent has an undeniable masculine quality, making me feel as if I am sipping on a salted caramel martini in a dimly lit bar. It's the ultimate date night fragrance, with top notes of caramel intertwined with these leathery hints of amber that steal your senses straight away. If a head-turning caramel perfume is what you're after, add this to your wishlist ASAP.
3. Phlur Caramel Skin
Key notes: Bergamot, caramel, vanilla, warm milk, brown sugar, sandalwood, musk
It's no secret that I love a Phlur body mist, and for autumn, I always find myself reaching for Caramel Skin. This is a true gourmand scent through and through, with the sweetest blend of caramel, vanilla, brown sugar and warm milk. While this is one of the sweeter options in this roundup, the fragrance is grounded by a sophisticated base of sandalwood and musk, creating this warm, creamy aroma that settles on the skin all day long.
4. Prada Candy
Key notes: White musk, benzoin, caramel accord
Prada Candy is such an iconic caramel perfume. The bright pink packaging feels playful and fun, and the scent itself has a youthful quality thanks to a hint of soft florals. That being said, benzoin and caramel add beautiful depth to this scent, making it feel warm and sensual without any sickly sweet undertones. I'm yet to meet anyone who isn't a fan.
5. Dedcool Aura
Key notes: Lemon, pear, rose, jasmine, cedar, patchouli, musk, caramel, vanilla
If cool, under-the-radar perfumes are your thing, you may already be familiar with this particular scent from Dedcool. It's not your typical caramel perfume, but in my opinion, that's what makes it so great. A base of vanilla, caramel and musk is uplifted by sparkling lemon and juicy pear, giving this scent a fresh, light aroma that is ideal for those crisp yet sunny autumn days.
6. Sol de Janeiro Cheirosa 62
Key notes: Pistachio, almond, jasmine, sandalwood, salted caramel accord
I know this is technically more of a summer scent, but it's so delicious that I find myself reaching for it all year round, especially when the weather gets colder and I need a bit of escapism. Notes of sun-drenched caramel and nutty pistachio remind me of days spent enjoying my favourite ice cream on the beach. Layer this with the brand's popular Brazilian Bum Bum Cream and prepare to have everyone tell you that you smell divine.
7. Phlur Cherry Stem
Key notes: Black cherry, orange brandy, red freesia, sugared jasmine, plum nectar, ebony woods, soft leather accord, warm caramel
I never thought a caramel perfume could smell this dark and sultry, but Phlur always manages to surprise me with its scents. A nice change from the usual vanilla-based gourmands, this fragrance has a base of leather and warm caramel, making it feel rich, dark and captivating. It has a boozy element thanks to orange brandy, and top notes of black cherry add a playful edge. My friend wore this recently on a night out and by the end of the evening, we'd all made a note to purchase it for ourselves.
