I'm Obsessed With Clothes Steamers—These Are the Best on Sale at Amazon

Having worked in fashion for over 15 years now, it's safe to say I have tried out a lot of steamers. I've worked with industrial-sized steamers on the most high-profile and high-octane of shoots, but I've also given many a home clothing steamer a go in a panic to get out of the door looking less creased in a jiffy. So when there's a potential fashion-gadget-sale opportunity—like Amazon Prime's Big Deal Days (don't dwell on the disastrously un-catchy promo name; just focus on the deals)—then that's when it's a good time for me to share my expertise in the world of garment care. For the uninitiated, Amazon's sale today (October 11) is for Prime members, and you can simply sign up to be a member here

As we make strides to improve the longevity of our fashion purchases—saving money along the way and being more conscious of our consumption—it's the little wardrobe hacks, such as how you clean your clothes or how you care for your closet, that can really make a difference. Get your shoes re-soled or re-heeled, and you've essentially got a new pair to step out into the world in without actually spending the same amount of cash on a box-fresh pair. Be cognisant of your cashmere pieces, and you could extend their lifetime by almost a decade. De-bobble your knits with a handy fabric shaver, and you'll give them a new lease of life each winter. Plus, steaming your clothes is not only a more delicate and effective way to smooth them out, but it's also quicker and easier than having to store a giant ironing board at home. (Honestly, where are these supposed to live?) Not to mention the dreaded fear around hoping that the iron you last used two years ago isn't going to spurt out limescale gunk over that new silk blouse…

Amazon's sale includes lots of top-rated clothing steamers, so here, we analyse which models are discounted with the highest ratings as well as the brands we know from other fashion contacts perform best. When I'm looking for a steamer, I want to know that it doesn't spurt out hot water (so dangerous!) and that it can steam a garment effectively without me having to repeatedly refill the water tank. On a very superficial level, I also want a clothes steamer that looks chic and isn't overly bulky so I can use it on my travels. Here are the best I could find in the Prime deals.
