Just In: Zara's New Sustainable Collection Is So Chic

Zara just gave us yet another reason to be obsessed with the brand: It just launched its very first sustainable collection, Join Life. So what makes the clothes different? In a new editorial starring Sasha Pivovarova on the brand's website, Zara explains that the line's pieces are "made with materials such as organic cotton, recycled wool, and Tencel, which reduce our environmental impact."

Expounding on the sustainability of these fabrics, Zara clarified, "the farming process of organic cotton consumes 90% less water than convention cotton." And if you haven't heard of Tencel before, Zara explained it's "a wood fiber extracted from forests that are sustainably managed, guaranteeing its reforestation."

In addition to using environmentally friendly materials, even the design of the clothes is inspired by mother nature: The collection is "a fusion of masculine and feminine style which defines clean silhouettes and a color palette inspired by mineral tones," per Zara's website. In other words, you officially have no excuse not to swipe up these new wares.

Erin Fitzpatrick
Senior News Editor

Erin got her start as a Who What Wear intern over 12 years ago—back when the site only published a single story per day. (Who What Wear has since increased that number twentyfold.) She graduated magna cum laude from USC, which is how she ended up moving to Los Angeles from her hometown of San Diego. In college, she also interned at Refinery29, where she was promoted to editorial assistant and then assistant editor. After nearly three years at R29, she came back to WWW in 2016, where she currently holds the title of senior news editor (as well as the unofficial title of resident royal expert—in case you haven't noticed her numerous Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton stories). She spends her days trying to incorporate her idols, Anna Wintour and Roger Federer, into as many stories as possible. Outside of work, she loves tennis, classic rock, traveling, and smothering her dog with affection.
