7 New Things Fashion People Are Talking About

If it seems like fashion news is moving a mile a minute, well, you're not alone. Despite our numerous social media feeds and perpetual press releases, it can be hard to keep up with the latest industry news—even as full-time editors—which is why we're trying something new and boiling it down to just the basics. Here are the seven new things fashion people are talking about right now:

In Collaboration

The Fashion Trust U.S. Awards in Los Angeles drew an impressively stylish crowd, including Laura Harrier, Cynthia Erivo, Jessica Biel, Lucy Hale, Ashley Graham, Da'Vine Joy Randolph, Paris Hilton, and others. One standout attendee was Chriselle Lim, who wore a custom dress made of archival yarns designed in collaboration between St. John and Brooklyn-based knitwear designer Aisling Camps.

The Tabi Takes Over South Coast Plaza

Maison Margiela is hosting a pop-up experience dubbed #Tabiology at South Coast Plaza in Costa Mesa, California. Not only does the pop-up include a fascinating retrospective of the iconic Tabi shoe, which originally launched in 1989, but the brand is also offering the chance to create personalized digital versions of the Tabi powered by AI. The pop-up is held in the shopping center's Jewel Court until April 15.

Well, come May 23, you can find him in Barcelona, Spain, where the women's artistic director will be hosting Louis Vuitton's Cruise 2025 show at a yet-to-be-disclosed location in the Catalan city. Cecilie Bahnsen Launches a New Capsule Collection

Cecilie Bahnsen is my favorite Danish brand, and I don't say that lightly. I've attended Copenhagen Fashion Week for five years now, so I'm well acquainted with the city's talented designers, but Bahnsen remains my number one. (She did decamp to Paris Fashion Week, but I'll forgive her.) Bahnsen's latest launch is a new capsule collection created with fabrics from Nona Source's enviable archives. If you're not familiar, Nona Source has become a key player in the industry's push for circularity. It supplies high-quality deadstock fabrics to designers at affordable prices, which encourages brands to lower their environmental impact.

Camila Morrone's New Campaign

Calvin Klein has tapped Daisy Jones & the Six star Camila Morrone for its spring 2024 eyewear campaign. "I have always admired Calvin Klein's contemporary elegance, which is why I was excited to be a part of this eyewear campaign," Morrone said in a press release. She's wearing the Butterfly Frame Glasses in the image above, so naturally, I need the same pair ASAP. I won't look exactly like Morrone, but it's a good start.

Piaget Revamps an Old Favorite

There's a new timepiece in town. Piaget just released an updated version of its classic polo watch from the 1970s called the Polo 79. The new watch is made entirely of 18-karat gold. How luxurious is that? The original watch counted Andy Warhol and Elizabeth Taylor as fans, and only time will tell which celebrities will latch on to the 2024 version. It's safe to say this news is delighting watch collectors the world over.

Erin Fitzpatrick
Senior News Editor

Erin got her start as a Who What Wear intern over 12 years ago—back when the site only published a single story per day. (Who What Wear has since increased that number twentyfold.) She graduated magna cum laude from USC, which is how she ended up moving to Los Angeles from her hometown of San Diego. In college, she also interned at Refinery29, where she was promoted to editorial assistant and then assistant editor. After nearly three years at R29, she came back to WWW in 2016, where she currently holds the title of senior news editor (as well as the unofficial title of resident royal expert—in case you haven't noticed her numerous Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton stories). She spends her days trying to incorporate her idols, Anna Wintour and Roger Federer, into as many stories as possible. Outside of work, she loves tennis, classic rock, traveling, and smothering her dog with affection.
