Ah, it's that awkward not-fall-but-not-quite-summer-anymore time of the year. August and September are always the trickiest months to dress for, and here in Los Angeles, I've seen many 90-degree October days. (I don't want to talk about it.) Is it cool enough for a long-sleeved shirt? Can I get away with pants, or will I be sweating by lunch? Someone send help.

This time around, I sought out inspiration from my fellow fashion friends, who have some fresh takes on dressing for this complicated in-between season. Who What Wear Associate Director of Fashion News Erin Fitzpatrick and content creator Tomar Thomas live in L.A. and Austin, Texas, respectively, so they're no strangers to fall that feels like summer. With a little help from Paige's newest collection, they came to my rescue with four ultra-cute outfits. We've got denim, including one pair of wide-leg jeans that both women are equally obsessed with. We've got layers. We've got dresses. We've got—well, scroll on to see everything, and prepare to be wearing these Paige pieces from now until winter.

"This outfit is more on the casual side and is so versatile—it can be worn for brunch, dinner, work, etc. My favorite part of it is the top. It has long sleeves, but it's lightweight, so it's perfect for the summer-to-fall transition. One of my favorite tricks with button-ups like this is opening the last few buttons. It gives your body a little more shape and is so much more flattering, in my opinion. (Plus, it'll give you a little breeze on warmer days.) I love how neutral this look is with the shades of brown. I can't think of a better transitional look." — Tomar Thomas, Content Creator

"I wanted to keep this look very monochromatic. An all-black look is a go-to in the fall, and I felt the checkered blazer added a nice classy touch. This outfit is great for work attire but can easily be transitioned for happy hour. Layering is key, and this specific layer is one of those pieces that can be kept on or off pending how chilly of a fall night it is! But the standout part of the outfit for me is by far the leather pants. They're formfitting (but comfortable!), very flattering, and feel so fall!" — Thomas

"I've been wearing Paige jeans for a decade, but the brand has so much more than denim. I'm loving Paige's outerwear, especially its leather jackets. And for this outfit, I wanted to lean into that piece. I juxtaposed a very summery floral dress with a fall-centric leather jacket for the perfect in-between-seasons look. The weather during the summer-to-fall transition can be quite unpredictable, so this outfit has me covered no matter which way the thermometer leans—I'd just add tights once the weather gets colder. I'd definitely wear this outfit for dinner with my friends because it's super comfortable but also fun." — Erin Fitzpatrick, associate director of fashion news

"Long live the Canadian tuxedo. I love wearing denim on denim because it's such a classic combination. And I really can't live without a denim jacket for the summer-to-fall transition because it's both lightweight and substantial. I'm wearing a tank top underneath the denim jacket because September and October weather can be quite hot in L.A. This will be my new uniform for just about anything from running errands to going shopping." — Fitzpatrick
