You Won't Believe How Luxurious This New Swimwear Looks and Feels
When an email lands in your inbox about a swim line launched by an ex-magazine editor, you know it's going to be good. Fashion editors come across hundreds of new labels every day, so often they know exactly what's missing in the market, and how to bridge a gap. Sydney-based swimwear label Tanliines, launched at the end of last year by ex-magazine editor Elle Glass, and Somer Watson, one half of Australian label WATSON X WATSON—and with only a few days left of summer, it will be the best investment you make to see out the season.
The collection features easy classics that you'll wear for years to come. Nothing that will tell people in a few years that it looked like it was purchased in 2017—meaning it will stand the test of time, and will be worth every last cent. The fabric feels luxuriously soft, and each piece is double lined, so you can rest assured that it won't go see-through after a dip in the ocean.
We had the chance for a quick chat with Glass, and she explained "We’d both been in fashion for a long time and wanted to do something that gave back. We live right on Bondi Beach and are forever in the water so it made sense to do swimwear given we live in it. We wanted to make (and wear) swimwear that would wear hard. I wanted something that you can surf in and spend all summer long in. We joke that your TANLIINES will last you way longer than a summer fling (sorry boys). We kept the shapes and shades pretty classic—they’re the white tee of swimwear. Think of them as your reach-for, a go-to; the first thing you pack in your travel bag, the ones forever in the back of your car always and forever."
And that's not even the best part. The label donates a percentage of profits to SURFAID to contribute to improving the health and wellbeing of people living in isolated regions around the world.
