Our favourite blogger turned fashion editor of street style website Chronicles of Her, Carmen Hamilton, has recently designed a handbag strap in collaboration with Oroton and since being sold-out online we're low-key excited to see them back in stock. As seen on the runway, statement bag straps have taken over many designer bags including Prada, Burberry, Gucci and Fendi in the last year or two. Now the buzzy fashion accessory is more accessible than ever through Oroton, just in time for spring.
Since Hamilton's style (and hair) transformation has got us thinking outside the box, we talked to her about her design of the bag strap and it's apparent that at the time she was feeling feminine and all things OTT. "I wanted to create something that would add an interesting element to even the simplest of outfits. I loved the idea of a sculptural frill pared-back with a more tomboy look like a suit."
With a love for '90s fashion, Hamilton's favourite handbag style is unlike the usual style we're used to seeing. "At the moment I'm really into baguette bags! Shorter straps feel very chic." We also asked her what she would be styling the bag strap with this spring/summer and as expected, she's all about the playful contrast. "Everything from a simple white tee, to a boyfriend suit, to a slip dress! I think the frill makes it fun to play with balance between masculine and feminine; free flowing and structured," Hamilton says.
