14 Work-Appropriate Holiday Party Looks Even Your Boss Will Love
Trust us when we say that the holiday season (and all the events that will inevitably ensue) will arrive much sooner than you'll realize. As your go-to destination for outfit ideas and shopping, of course, we made it our duty to bring you our guide on what to wear to every type of celebration you might attend this holiday season (virtual or otherwise). Next up: your office holiday party.
Although many companies are continuing to work remotely, that doesn't mean the festivities are completely canceled. So long as Zoom gatherings and in-person soirées are taking place, you can bet that we'll be delivering on ideas for what to wear. For most of us, this is a tricky one to dress for because on one hand, you want to maintain an air of professionalism in front of your co-workers, while on the other, you don’t want to dress like you would on any other workday. Where does that leave you? Somewhere between formal and festive, which can be hard to pinpoint—and that’s where we come in. Ahead, we’ve rounded up 14 outfits that will impress not only your boss but your colleagues, too.
Each look effortlessly balances looking festive and polished. Take outfit one, for instance, in which an office-ready blazer meets a pretty lace bodysuit. Get inspired by this and so many more office holiday party outfits below. See (and shop) the looks below.
Style Tip: If you want to put a cool spin to your classic suit look, wear a (modest) lace bodysuit underneath.
Style Tip: You can never go wrong with a cool one-shoulder dress with a pair of mules.
Style Tip: When in doubt, a printed dress with a timeless coat will always look good.
Style Tip: Want a cool (and cozy) layering look? Wear a lightweight cardigan over a simple slip dress.
Style Tip: A statement suit will get you the right type of attention at a holiday party.
Style Tip: If your office is more casual but you want to give your look some polish, a pair of knee-high boots with a printed dress is the way to go.
Style Tip: Swap out the traditional blazer for a cool statement jacket.
Style Tip: A red dress and strappy heels? Absolutely classic.
Style Tip: Give your simple LBD a new twist with a zebra-print coat.
Style Tip: If you're wearing a monochromatic outfit, play with textures like fringe.
Style Tip: If you're going to wear a classic dress for the holiday party, give it a current spin with bright heels.
Style Tip: Another way to always look polished without feeling boring is with a coordinated set.
Style Tip: A polka-dot top with simple black trousers is both classic and unexpected.
Style Tip: There's nothing sleeker than an all-leather look.

Since starting as an intern back in 2013, Nicole Akhtarzad Eshaghpour has held several roles here at Who What Wear, and she is currently Editor-at-Large. It was a less expected route, seeing as she was graduating from business school at USC when this all began, but it has turned out to be the best one for her. Fast-forward to 2024, and she's moved to NYC from her hometown of Beverly Hills and spends her workdays a little differently from when she was an intern starting out. Currently, she focuses on a weekly mélange of shopping content. As far as her personal style goes, she's largely drawn to classic pieces and neutral basics but will always make an exception for something colorful, printed, or bejeweled as long as it's deemed worthy enough. After all, the only thing she loves more than a good party is dressing up for one. On weekdays, she can usually be found at home eating something delicious for dinner and trying to force her husband to watch Summer House.
