I'm So Happy That This Unusual Nike Sneaker Is Finally Getting Recognition
I'm a fan of "ugly" shoes in general, but I was especially happy to discover that one of my favourite go-to sneakers is finally being recognised as the best seller it so deserves to be. According to GQ, the Nike Air Huarache trainers have become the second best-selling Nikes in the U.S., after the more mainstream Tanjun. So what is it about the Huarache design that is so covetable right now? The trainer has a chunky sole that gives it more of a fashion edge. But the colourways of the shoe are also fairly neutral, so it doesn't matter what you wear with them, as they'll be the perfect addition to any outfit.
What's even more interesting about the recent popularity of this trainer is that they've been around since 1991. They were initially so divisive, however, that they didn't sell so well. Now, with everyone loving '90s styles, and thanks to the sneaker's relaunch in 2014, they're one of the hottest and most in-demand styles, ideal for those who love the bulky "dad" trainer look. So if you've been admiring the Balenciaga "ugly" sneakers, then these are a great way to dip your toe into the trend without feeling like you've spent a) a month's rent and b) testing if you even like the look. Red looks good on everyone, so it's pretty much a neutral, right?
