As a Libra, I take my birthday pretty seriously. You would think I would start to grow out of it, but if I'm being honest, every year, it gets a little more over-the-top than the year before. This year, I was planning a trip to Miami with some friends to ring in my 25th because who doesn't want to spend their birthday at the beach? We planned the perfect itinerary: booking a cabana at the SLS South Beach pool party, which ended up being the highlight of the trip; shopping in the design district; dining at Soho Beach House; and, of course, visiting some clubs and lounges along the way.

We were staying at the W South Beach, which ended up being perfect. The room was so big I started referring to it as our apartment, and we had a balcony looking out at the water, which ended up being our communal "glass of champagne before dinner" spot. Of course, we had to stay one night at the 1 Hotel South Beach, which happens to be one of my favorite 1 Hotel locations of all time. With our itinerary finished, the next thing to focus on was outfits, my favorite part. After digging on Fwrd, Revolve, Shopbop, and Nordstrom, I landed on a few outfits that were just begging to be worn in Miami on a girl's trip/birthday weekend.

When deciding on a birthday look, I always think big and—if I'm being completely honest—a little over-the-top. I see it as a chance to have fun and wear something I wouldn't normally wear. I've always been a fan of the "naked dress" trend but also wanted something with a little bit of bling. Luckily for me, Ohad Seroya had designed the Retrofête birthday dress of my dreams. I paired this dress with Miu Miu hairclips and a sparkly Cult Gaia bag. This outfit was everything I wanted it to be and more. It also screams "It's my birthday," and where better to wear it than in Miami?

For my birthday dinner, I wanted to go to one of my favorite restaurants in Miami, Mila. This restaurant isn't like your average dinner spot. For one, it's gorgeous with a warm interior that almost makes you feel like you're in Tulum. If you're lucky enough to sit outside, you'll catch a live show of fire dancers with music being played throughout the night. Naturally, I needed to pick an outfit that went with the vibe of the restaurant, and I wanted to take this opportunity to wear color. When I first saw this Courrèges dress, I started calling it the sunset dress and knew it was the one. The open back has a thong strap along the shoulder blades that adds a sultry element to the look. Plus, it's completely mesh.

This yellowy-green sparkly dress was just begging to be worn on a birthday weekend. I wore this my first night in Miami to dinner and drinks with my friends, and it set the tone for the entire weekend. What I love about this is that it's a color I wouldn't normally wear in New York. For a strapless dress, it stays up surprisingly well. No tape was used, and I successfully didn't flash anyone. With that being said, this dress gets a 10/10 from me.
