As anyone worth their sustainability salt knows, natural fibres alone don’t equate to a sustainable fashion item. However, it’s still one of the main things that I look out for when shopping, partly due to the comfort factor (natural materials are more breathable), and partly because pieces made from natural fibres typically hold more value than synthetic items, should it ever be donated or resold. Not to mention, if a piece of clothing ever ends up in landfill, at least natural fibres degrade quicker than synthetic. This is the first and most basic of the shopping tips that I give to anyone who is looking to buy less whilst buying better.

Massimo Dutti is a good place to put this tip into action. Its summer collection has a few pieces that have caught my eye because they’re well made for the price point, and there are a number of linen and cotton pieces that could seamlessly fit into the majority of wardrobes.
