I Tried On Madewell's Fall Line—These 9 Items Are My New Staples
Welcome to The Great Try-On. With fall on the horizon, we seized the opportunity to try on some of the best fall pieces from some of your favorite brands, documenting the process along the way. We believe that the most foolproof way to shop online is to see an item IRL and to read candid reviews, so we hope that this leads you to some successful fall purchases.
There are a few stores I turn to on the regular to complete my wardrobe each season. Yep, Madewell happens to be one of said retailers. The editor-favorite brand actually launched a men's offering a few years ago, and I've been hooked ever since. More specifically, the assortment of top-notch basics continues to pique my interest. I essentially use Madewell items as the foundational elements in many of my most coveted looks. The black skinny jeans, specifically, are one of my tried-and-true staples. That said, the entire fall Madewell men's line that recently came out is quite noteworthy.
So with that in mind, I took the opportunity to order a few of the items I liked to try on and see what would work best for me. I also wrote up my review of the pieces. You know, in case you're in need of a little shopping inspiration for yourself or to recommend to anyone in your inner circle. Fun fact—many of the finds you'll see definitely have the power to become closet go-tos given their highly versatile nature.
Oh, I also wanted to share some of the picks that caught my eye in the women's collection. You'll find those items if you keep scrolling. Okay, enough chatting here. There's some fall shopping to be done.
Madewell Crewneck Sweater and Relaxed Jeans
My review: I rarely wear blue jeans, but this pair spoke to me in the light wash and the of-the-moment loose fit. I like the vintage feel, and there's also just the right amount of stretch that makes them incredibly comfortable. I teamed my new go-to pair of jeans with a classic crew-neck sweater. I selected my normal size (medium), but I'd actually like to try it in a larger size for an even more relaxed look.

Madewell Denim Chore Jacket
My review: Well, well, well, say hello to one of my new staple jackets. This Denim Chore Jacket is the ideal weight for in-between weather. I enjoy pairing it with the loose jeans for a cool denim-on-denim vibe.

Madewell Tee and Sweatshirt
My review: This white tee is fantastic with the modern, boxy fit. I'm also very into the soft sweatshirt, and I like tying it around my shoulders for a directional vibe.

Madewell Jean Jacket and Skinny Jeans
My review: I had to throw my favorite pair of black skinny jeans in here. I've worn this pair for seasons now because of the primo stretch amount and the fact that they don't fade in the wash (like a lot of other black jeans). As I stated above, Madewell makes top-notch denim jackets, so the coordinating topper gets an A+ from me because of the oversize fit.

Madewell Work Shirt
My review: Shackets still reign supreme for those early-autumn days. I love that I can toss this burgundy pick over a simple look and have a more "styled" silhouette. It also has a worn-in vibe that I like.
Shop the piece:
Madewell Sweatshirt
My review: I'm always on the hunt for stellar hoodie options to refresh my offering. This one caught my attention because of the quarter zip that makes it feel different from the rest. The boxy fit and stone color are also very appealing.
