Something to know about me is that I’m obsessed with denim shorts. Whether it’s at the beach as my bathing suit cover-up of choice, on a night out with strappy sandals and a tee, or on a lazy Sunday with a hoodie and sneakers, I am, you could say, a big jorts girl—this should make complete sense if you know about my true love of jeans.

As such, it was my pleasure to scour the web this week to narrow down the main trends worth knowing (and buying into) in the category for this summer. And after doing so, I must say that I’m quite pleased with the results: three trends that have you covered no matter your style or scenario. From a polished take to a less-revealing and more cool-girl version to an oldie but goodie, see what they are and shop my picks for each one below.

Belted

Starting off with my personal favorite of the bunch, belted denim shorts are the polished (and waist-accentuating) version we all need in our wardrobes.

Bermuda

Much like the bubbling bike short trend, when it comes to denim shorts, the longer Bermuda lengths are really having a moment right now.

Vintage-Inspired

We can all breathe easy because everyone’s favorite go-to, high-waisted cutoffs, are still very much at the top of the pack this season.

Editor-at-Large

Since starting as an intern back in 2013, Nicole Akhtarzad Eshaghpour has held several roles here at Who What Wear, and she is currently Editor-at-Large. It was a less expected route, seeing as she was graduating from business school at USC when this all began, but it has turned out to be the best one for her. Fast-forward to 2020, and she's moved to NYC from her hometown of Beverly Hills and spends her workdays a little differently from when she was an intern starting out. Currently, she focuses on a weekly mélange of shopping content. As far as her personal style goes, she's largely drawn to classic pieces and neutral basics but will always make an exception for something colorful, printed, or bejeweled as long as it's deemed worthy enough. After all, the only thing she loves more than a good party is dressing up for one. On weekdays, she can usually be found at home eating something delicious for dinner and trying to force her husband to watch 90 Day Fiancé.
